6538 Does Brain Equal MIND? Listener Questions

Freedomain with Stefan Molyneux

Show Notes

Philosopher Stefan Molyneux argues the mind comes from the brain and ends when the brain ends, and that not knowing how it works is no reason to invent souls or magic. He also takes listener questions on trauma, blank slate ideas, equality, religion and why philosophy should help real life.

Questions:

I hear you offer therapy and perhaps healing for my wounds?

Is a mind an emergent property of the brain? If it is emergent, does that imply the mind ceases to exist once the brain ceases to be? (I would assume yes but I am curious about your thoughts on this).

People of color have ancestral land rights in America, Australia, Brazil, Canada, Philippines etc. There is no White race that has any ancestral land rights. Did all White people just fall down from the Sky?

You not only have a high quality philosophy show, but you also have give high quality insights into psychology. Have you considered doing some more psychology episodes? It’d be extremely helpful

Stef, i very much enjoyed your intro to philosophy series. I have noticed discussing these topics with people educated in philosophy that they're more like philosophy historians - Kant said this, Plato said that, etc without a real grasp of how any of it applies to life or makes any sense. Have you noticed the same and how do you address it if so?

People have been conditioned to accept the premise of voting & always of voting for a "lesser of two evils, inferring that not only is evil necessary but acceptable. How would you structurally dismantle such mass mind conditioning & apathy?

what are your thoughts of the resurrection or view of it as historical paradigm shift

You talk about bloodline a lot. How about the facts like genetic ghosts?

Are all people equal?

Have you been un-cancelled ?

What are your thoughts on the afterlife ?

Will you ever sell physical instead of digital copies of (all) your books offered on your freedomain website?

why are humans sentient but not dolphins?

How can I teach UPB to my 3 year old? If it is in one of your books I am happy if you just point me to it.

Why do people play team based video games & sports to not work as a TEAM?! Blows my mind that i work hard to look out for teammates but they dont. They will quit in sports when we are losing, or only plug their mics in to insult our team in gaming 😠😤

When a fighter jet flies and then turns upside down, why doesn’t it start rapidly descending if the lift is supposedly inverted?
