Show Notes
On this episode of the happy hour, Michael and Anna sit down with Jake Levine, the politician on our playlist this week! Why is he on the playlist this week? Well, it's because he's running to replace Democratic Congressman Brad Sherman, of California's 32nd Congressional district and it turns out Brad has been in that seat since...1997! (Which is when Michael and Anna were in 6th and 2nd grade, respectively). Jake is a 4th generation Angeleno who's coming in with some fresh new ideas and some lived experience, having lost his childhood home in the Palisades fire and having wasted no time in helping found The Department Of Angels, a non-profit providing critical resources to fire victims. Let's just say Jake is a go-getter, and we're so excited to talk with him because he's going places. And we're here for it!

More from Political Playlist Happy Hour
On this episode of the happy hour, Michael and Anthony welcome their co-host and new mother Anna back into civilization and playlisters, she hasn't skipped a beat! She's charged up and ready to fire off on all things Universal Childcare and Paid Family Leave, two issues she's become well aquatinted with these last 6 weeks. We also sound off about the record high amounts of money pouring into the Texas Senate race...it's $482 million and counting! When will we reign in political spending in this country?
On this episode of the Happy Hour, Michael and Anthony discuss the bizarre, malicious, and very dumb faux conspiracy theory that right wing media (and the President) were trying to sell regarding James Talarico's 13 day absence from the campaign trail... turned out he had the flu. Then we discuss How To Talk About Trump's Russian Diesel Deal and how this is about as big, beautiful and tremendously awesome a gift you could possibly give adversary and known killer Vladimir Putin. Finally, we turn our sights to the Politician On Our Playlist, Rep Gabe Evans, who's in a battle for Colorado's 8th district, a seat he won by just a couple thousand votes last time.
As the episode title suggests, these appear to be just a few of Donald Trump's favorite things, though it's unclear if anyone's home upstairs. But fear not, Michael and Anthony are home and well at the Playlist bar, hear for another happy hour to break down the Paramount Warner Bros merger, some theories on David Ellison being poised for a presidential run in ten years, the politician on our playlist Congressman Brian Jack who's fighting for a federal film tax credit, and Congresswoman Sara Jacobs who's clapping back on Trump offering up LA and SD as tribute to Iran for nuclear annihilation. It's all nuts, or in America these days, it's just Tuesday.
Playlisters, hold onto your pens — literally — because we're headed to Texas. This week Michael and Anthony break down the wildest Senate race in the country: indicted, impeached, alleged pen-thief Ken Paxton vs. viral progressive James Talarico, and why a race Republicans were supposed to win in a landslide is suddenly anyone's game. We get into the ugly primary between Talarico, Jasmine Crockett, and Colin Allred, the attack ad using real security footage to roast Paxton (you read that right), and what it all means for the fight for Senate control. Then, the politician on our playlist: AOC — is 2028 buzz more than just buzz, and does the math actually work? Pour a drink, Playlisters, this one's a lot.
It's week three of the bro-cast, as Michael and Anthony discuss How To Talk About Trump TV and the latest ban on the free press by the President. What did CNN, MSNow and Politico ever do to this guy? Well, it turns out, they didn't write enough nice things about him. So they've been booted from the White House. And then surprisingly Fox News and all the other TV outlets joined them in solidarity to boycott coverage. THEN, the White House just magically released "Trump TV" streaming app. It does feel like weird reality show nightmare but we break it all down. We then discuss the Politician On Our Playlist, Republican Mike Lawler, who's in perhaps the closes mid-term race of the bench.
