The epic Season 2 finale is upon us—and so is a galactic war. Cassian Bilton (Brother Dawn) is here to talk all about it with Jason and David as they unpack “Creation Myths.” Together, they lament the tragic loss of a key character, share insights on the state of the Empire and Foundation, and discuss Dawn’s surprisingly hopeful future. Plus, David gives us a sneak peek of Season 3, where we’ll see more of a pivotal figure who will change everything: the Mule.
The forever empress is here! Laura Birn (Demerzel) chats with Jason and David about her character’s tragic backstory, revealed in episode 9, “Long Ago, Not Far Away.” They discuss Demerzel’s complicated relationship with Cleon and how Day’s fragile ego leads to intergalactic destruction. And Jason wants to know what would possess Dr. Seldon to give Empire the Prime Radiant?
Director Roxann Dawson joins Jason and David to talk all about episode 8, “The Last Empress.” They break down the challenges of creating an execution that’s broad-beamed across the galaxy. Plus, they unpack Salvor’s clever thinking while imprisoned on Ignis and how it leads to a meeting that has major repercussions for the rest of the series.
Writer Eric Carrasco guests this week to discuss episode 7, “A Necessary Death,” with Jason and David. Eric shares his appreciation of Asimov’s Three Laws of Robotics and why he wanted to work on Demerzel’s storyline. David and Eric also talk about bringing Hari and Day together in the same room for the first time since the show’s premiere.
Production designer Rory Cheyne sits down with Jason and David to dive into episode 6, “Why the Gods Made Wine.” Jason learns this was one of the most challenging episodes to make—thanks to an unexpected snowstorm and a flood. David and Rory go deep on how they created Hari’s home planet, Helicon, and why this was the right time to tell the story of Hari’s tragic past. Plus, David takes a stab at explaining superposition and quantum mechanics for all the non-physicists out there.
