Groundbreakers: From farm to screen - a Cavan farmer's story

Agriland Podcasts

Show Notes

In this episode of Groundbreakers, we meet a young Co. Cavan farmer who is taking Irish farming beyond the farm gate. The 'Groundbreakers' series, which is proudly supported by FBD, is highlighting the important role of women in farming in Ireland. Sophie Bell is farming in Virginia, Co. Cavan, contract rearing dairy and beef heifers for farmers across the country. But she also shares the realities of her daily farming life online. From the highs, the challenges, and everything in between. Sophie has helped bring agriculture to a whole new audience through her presence on the small screen, showcasing an authentic side of farming that some people may not get to see. She also tells Agriland news journalist, Kathleen O'Sullivan, about who her role models were when she was starting out in farming - and why her 91-year old grandmother is still an inspiration today.
