When does spiritual teaching cross into control? Danielle S. and Danielle B. explore “weaponizing spirituality”—the moment channelled messages or confident truth claims become decrees that override your agency. They unpack pandemic-era examples, business-space tactics (such as blind offers, urgency, and the “you’re not ready” approach), and gatekeeping in training. You’ll hear how humility, transparency, and psychological safety create healthier containers for learning, plus quick cues to spot red flags and practices to restore balance—like shared authority, longer decision windows, and clear expectations. If absolutist language, guru-centering, or pressure to buy now make your nervous system spike, this episode offers a grounded reset and questions to bring your power back online.
Highlights:
Defining weaponized spirituality and its impact on personal agency. Business tactics: blind offers, urgency marketing, and inflated payment plans. Gatekeeping in training with labels like “untrained” or “unqualified.” Mediumship as an interpretive art with room for error and growth. Humility as the antidote to absolutism in spiritual teaching. Psychological safety built through clarity, transparency, and time. Restoring balance with shared authority, alumni access, and peer learning. Red flags: absolutist language, guru-centering, urgency, and pressure. Self-check prompts to notice when you may be giving away power.
More from Spirit School
I have wanted to share this story for months and I finally got to tell it, with the person I trust most to hold it. Asha Frost is an Indigenous healer, author, and one of my oldest friends in this work. She is back on Spirit School for the third time, and this time we went somewhere we have never gone before. I share the story of the 2026 rupture. The rent increase I opened on a plane to New Zealand. The four months that followed. Losing 30 pounds. The moment on the floor when my cleaner knocked on the door and I finally broke open. The phone call to my husband where I said for the first time: I cannot do this alone anymore. Asha just released her new book The Inner Winter, a compassionate guide for anyone navigating burnout, chronic illness, grief, or the need to slow down. She wrote it from inside her own deepest winter, and this conversation is the best possible companion to it. If you have been in your own winter lately, or you are trying to understand why you cannot just push through, this one is for you. Pre-order Asha's book here: https://ashafrost.com/the-inner-winter/
This month in the Spirit School Collective, we’re honouring the shadow. In this episode, I sit down with one of my favourite people, Gracie Navarro of Graceful Healing. Gracie is a spiritual guide, medium, healer and longtime student of mine. She shares what it was like to grow up in the Jehovah’s Witness faith, believing all spirit was bad and that she would never be worthy of God’s love. This is a tender, honest conversation about finding your way back to your own truth without disrespecting the people you love. Gracie shares how she rebuilt her relationship with Creator on her own terms. She also tells some breathtaking stories of angelic intervention, from a truck rolling down a hill to an operating room full of angels. In this episode:
Recorded three days before my Squamish Medium TV show premieres on APTN, I'm answering six questions that came in from you, my Instagram followers and Spirit School Collective members, about the filming experience and my path in mediumship. I get into what it was like channelling in front of cameras and a crew, whether abilities like mine fade or change over time, my advice for anyone on a spiritual path, and how my thinking on messages versus evidence has evolved. I also share how many intuitives I've mentored since 2017 and what's coming up next, including The Initiation, Spirit Speaks, and where to watch the show.
In this episode of Spirit School, I'm sharing a few stories from my reconnection journey back to my Swampy Cree culture and my grandmother's traditional territories. Watch on Youtube as this episode is visual https://www.youtube.com/@squamishmedium This one's a little different, less polished, more story time. I talk about following your "point of intrigue" (a piece of advice that's shaped a lot of my life), how a library trip with my kids led me to a book by a Norway House author, and how a prayer for happier stories led me to a rare, out of print book of Swampy Cree name origins I found, of all places, on eBay. I also pull out my tobacco plants for a very visual teaching about space, growth, and what it means to flourish.
After three years of keeping this exciting secret, I'm finally able to share the news. Squamish Medium, my TV show, is premiering September 2 in Cree (Plains) on APTN Languages, and September 14 in English on APTN. In this episode I go back to the beginning: mediumship readings at my kitchen table in 2013, launching this podcast in 2018, opening my in person school in 2023, and everything that led to two Indigenous women approaching me 'out of nowhere' with an idea for a TV show. I share a bit of what filming was really like, what surprised me most about the experience, and why this show matters to me as a mother, an entrepreneur, and an Indigenous woman reconnecting with my culture. 🎬 Watch the trailer and learn more: daniellesearancke.com/squamish-medium-tv-show📸 Follow the show on Instagram: @squamishmediumtv Thank you for growing with me.
