David Gonzales is an artist from Richmond, California who grew up in his local lowrider and Chicano arts scene. Starting with his own t-shirts and comic strips, he created the Homies characters that became a worldwide phenomenon. After selling millions of toys, David had to start from square one after the vending machine industry collapses. Kreayshawn is an artist from Oakland who started off as a music video director while dropping music online. Her single and music video "Gucci Gucci" blew up overnight and led to a major label deal. But Kreayshawn had a negative experience with the label that led her to leave music behind.
