Theology Girls Podcast

Show Notes

Today we are sharing a conversation featuring podcaster, author and “Insta Pastor,” Kristin Mockler Young. Kristin and Katy discuss her upcoming book “The Other Side of Certainty” and what it looks like to live inside tension rather than look for clear cut answers when it comes to faith. Kristin shares about her rise to internet fame and what it’s like being a female pastor, particularly one who’s been outspoken about Christian nationalism and caring for marginalized communities, as well as diet culture and raising daughters.

Make sure you stick around for our bonus Second Service episode with Kristin on Substack where we discuss whether or not she’s ever changed her mind as a result of some of the critiques she’s had online. From there we go back to the first recorded worship leader in Scripture: Miriam, the prophetess who led Israel in song at the Red Sea. Dr. Christopher Hays of Fuller Theological Seminary walks us through the female prophets of the Hebrew Bible, including a scholarly case that Miriam’s song may be older than Moses’.
