They Broke His Contract, So He Sent Them His B*tthole | Ocean Machine by Devin Townsend
Every Album Ever with Mike MansourShow Notes
Today we're discussing Ocean Machine: Biomech by the great Devin Townsend. Ocean Machine was Townsend's first solo record, but its origins go all the way back, even before Strapping Young Lad. More importantly though, the making of this beloved record was bonkers. It's a miracle we even have it. Some of these stories sound made up, but I assure you, it's all real.

More from Every Album Ever with Mike Mansour
Today we're discussing every album by legendary metal band Mastodon. Formed by Troy Sanders, Brent Hinds, Bill Kelliher, and Brann Dailor, Mastodon is one of the most creative and constantly evolving metal bands of all time. Albums like Leviathan and Crack the Skye blended incredible technicality, bizarre and unique melodies, as well as complex story concepts. Their most recent album, Marrow Deep, is the band's first album without Brent, following his departure and subsequent death in 2025. Despite the loss, Mastodon continues to push and evolve.
Today we're interviewing the amazing Chat Pile. With their nu-metal-infused brand of sludge metal, Chat Pile is one of the most interesting and unique heavy bands working today. And now, members Stin, Luther Manhole, Raygun Busch, and Cap'n Ron are walking us through their latest album, Who Loves the Sun, as well as their general philosophies and methods when making music.
Today we're discussing Lift Your Skinny Fists Like Antennas to Heaven, as well as Slow Riot For New Zero Kanada by Godspeed You! Black Emperor. This is the second episode in our Godspeed discography series and we're breaking down both of these records, as well as all the history surrounding them. In a nutshell, they're two of the best records ever made and Godspeed is incredible. But you probably already knew that if you're reading this.
Today we're breaking down every album by Bitch Magnet, one of the most underrated post-hardcore bands of all time. Made up of core members Sooyoung Park, Jon Fine, and Orestes Morfin, Bitch Magnet didn't make a huge splash during their initial run in the late 80s/early 90s. But a successful reunion in 2011 reminded the world of just how ahead of their time they were. This is an essential band for any post-hardcore fan and one of the most underrated bands we've covered on this channel.
Today we're discussing Live at the Witch Trials, the first album by legendary post-punk band The Fall. Before The Fall became completely run by vocalist and founding member Mark E. Smith, there was a lot more collaboration and democracy. And while that didn't last long, it resulted in one hell of a great record.
