In the last decade, North Carolina Pleiades and Boston Brute Squad have won the most championships in the College and Club divisions respectively. Grace Conerly has played for both. She tells us what it's like to play for each program - how they're similar, and how they're different. From pouring over film to getting her millionth throw in, Grace leaves no stone unturned during preparation. She thinks about the sport in an extremely nuanced way. Today she teaches us about hucking from a stand still - the reads, the belief, and the execution. We also learn a bit about the PUL where Grace will be playing for NY Gridlock this season.More from Pod Practice:Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/podpractice_podYouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@podpractice_podEmail: [email protected] Mobility Membership: https://www.skool.com/ultimate-mobility/about?ref=1ac6179a76464cf892a7347232df540eBuy Tokay Cleats: https://tokay-ultimate.com/podpracticePod Practice Store: https://ko-fi.com/podpractice/shopGreatest Bags: https://www.greatestbag.com/Use promo code: PODPRACTICE10 for 10% off your Greatest Bag OrderPod Practice BE Ultimate Store: https://shop.beultimate.com/collections/pod-practice-podcastDownload The Playbook: https://betterthanever.beultimate.com/the-playbook-infoShop BE Ultimate: https://beultimate.com/Kikko Socks: https://kikkosocks.com/Use discount code: POD15 for 15% off your next order.00:00 Introduction to Grace Connerly03:00 Grace's Journey in Ultimate Frisbee04:33 The Impact of Pleiades on Development12:07 The Role of Fear of Failure in Motivation14:39 The Importance of Throwing Skills18:00 Analyzing Game Film for Improvement20:38 Understanding Pressure in Game Situations24:04 Hucking Techniques and Strategies27:29 The Art of Catchable Throws32:37 Understanding Hook Throws and Their Execution38:23 Game Mentality: College vs. Club39:57 Insights into the PUL Tryout Process47:14 The Landscape of the PUL and Team Dynamics51:25 Comparing Club Teams and Pro Teams53:08 Growing Interest in Ultimate Frisbee56:52 The Future of Professional Ultimate57:45 Innovative League Formats and Ideas59:33 Exploring Season Tickets and Memberships01:02:18 Game Day Roster Dynamics01:02:58 Integrating PUL Aspects into Club Play01:05:31 Brute's Ambitions and Upcoming Challenges01:09:16 Pleiades' Performance and Future Prospects

Rocky Beach has played ultimate for 32 years, including the original Revolver team in 2006. In 2016 Rocky founded Ultimate Impact, a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit that supports youth in San Francisco and Oakland. They provide underserved youth with opportunities for personal, professional, and athletic growth by building stable community for families through ultimate. This episode is a great listen for remembering the positive impact sports can have on young people's lives.More from Pod Practice:Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/podpractice_podYouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@podpractice_podEmail: [email protected] Socks: https://tokay-ultimate.com/products/socks?variant=54370070135117Buy Tokay Cleats: https://tokay-ultimate.com/podpracticeSupport us by donating: https://ko-fi.com/podpractice/shopGreatest Bags: https://www.greatestbag.com/Use promo code: PODPRACTICE10 for 10% off your Greatest Bag OrderUltimate Mobility Membership: https://www.skool.com/ultimate-mobility/about?ref=1ac6179a76464cf892a7347232df540ePod Practice BE Ultimate Store: https://shop.beultimate.com/collections/pod-practice-podcastDownload The Playbook: https://betterthanever.beultimate.com/the-playbook-infoShop BE Ultimate: https://beultimate.com/Kikko Socks: https://kikkosocks.com/Use discount code: POD15 for 15% off your next order.
