Orderpad | Uranium Stocks Down 20%+! Nuclear Energy Boom & 2 ASX Stock Picks (URNM & SLX)
Talk Money To MeShow Notes
Uranium stocks have fallen more than 20%, yet the global nuclear energy outlook continues to strengthen. Is this a buying opportunity, or is the market signalling something investors are missing?
In this episode of Talk Money To Me, Felicity explores the nuclear energy renaissance, the global uranium supply deficit, and why nuclear power could become one of the most important investment themes of the next decade.
With AI data centres driving unprecedented electricity demand, governments prioritising energy security, and major technology companies including Amazon, Google and Microsoft investing in nuclear power, the industry is attracting significant attention.
But there's a problem: uranium supply isn't keeping pace with projected demand.
The world's nuclear reactors currently require approximately 190 million pounds of uranium annually, compared with primary mine production of around 150 million pounds. By 2040, uranium requirements could approach 390 million pounds annually.
So why are uranium equities falling?
Felicity unpacks the disconnect between improving nuclear fundamentals and weakening share prices, including geopolitical uncertainty, uranium mining challenges, utility contracting delays and the impact of the AI trade.
She also examines how the Strait of Hormuz oil shock is reinforcing the importance of energy independence and why the US remains heavily reliant on imported uranium.
