Show Notes
From the ages of 13 to 17, Angela Alexander was locked in a basement by her father and stepmother, enduring years of psychological abuse, neglect and shame while the outside world had no idea what was happening.
Everything changed when a school social worker recognised something was wrong and helped Angela escape. Angela shares the long road of therapy and healing that followed, reconnecting with her mother, becoming a parent herself and eventually finding the courage to publicly tell her story.
Now an audiologist specialising in auditory processing disorders, Angela has transformed a childhood spent unheard into a life devoted to helping others be understood.
