October is officially crunchy. In this episode of The Awake Space Astrology Podcast, Laurie Rivers gets personal about a difficult week filled with grief, family changes, exhaustion, and the reality that astrologers aren't immune to the transits they forecast. With Mercury and Mars creating tension and Pluto preparing to station direct in Aquarius, Laurie explores what happens when life pushes us outside our comfort zones. The pressure is real, but so is the potential to use it creatively and deliberately. This episode also takes a deeper look at anger, spirituality, power, and the idea that being spiritual does not require being passive. Love can be active. Advocacy can be loving. Anger can carry useful information. The question isn't whether you're allowed to feel it. The question is: What are you going to do with it? Laurie shares reflections on watching people she loves age, saying goodbye to a beloved family dog, and witnessing the strange, painful beauty of life's transitions. She also talks about learning to look for beauty during difficult circumstances and why regulating our emotions isn't the same thing as suppressing them. As Pluto prepares to move direct in Aquarius, we're entering a period when people may be increasingly unwilling to accept old hierarchies, abuses of power, and systems that depend on silence or passivity. The challenge this week is to use the pressure rather than letting it consume you. Create something. Advocate for something. Help someone. Rest when you need to rest. Feel what you need to feel. Then decide where you're going to put your attention next. Laurie also shares a preview of Living by Luna, her six-month guided process for observing your patterns, reactions, energy, and responses through daily lunar transits. You'll hear a sample from the introductory audio created for participants while they wait for their physical Living by Luna journal to arrive. 00:03 October is crunchy: what to expect this week 02:18 Why spiritual passivity isn't the answer 03:30 Living by Luna and learning to recognize your patterns 08:34 Aging, family, grief, and saying goodbye 22:34 Mercury square Mars: tension, communication and forced pivots 25:34 Why we're still having the same conversations about power and abuse 27:29 Pluto direct in Aquarius and power to the people 28:49 Turning anger and angst into creativity 31:17 Rage against the dying of the light 33:45 Purpose, passion and showing up 36:07 Spirituality doesn't require accepting another hit 39:31 Love isn't passive 40:11 What are you going to do with your anger? 41:20 Ralph Report and Predictions 44:46 Justice can't erase the past, but healing can build something new 45:30 A preview of Living by Luna This isn't a week for pretending everything is fine. It's a week for recognizing what you feel without allowing those feelings to permanently take you out of the game. Sometimes you need to fall down. Sometimes you need to grieve. Sometimes you need to rage. And when one of us falls, the rest of us guard the flame until they can stand again. Every morning is another chance to reset.

Learn, Grow and Explore in the Awake Space - CLICK TO JOIN This week on The Awake Space, Laurie Rivers looks at nostalgia, resilience, technology, AI, water resources, and the importance of knowing your next move during a period of massive systemic change. Laurie starts with a weekend trip to see Practical Magic 2, reflections on aging parents, family, memory, and why Mars in Cancer has us craving coziness, familiarity, and connection. She also shares updates on Living by Luna, the new LaurieRivers.com website, and how she intentionally worked with a Mercury transit to solve a long-standing technical problem. Then it’s Q&A: Venus retrograde and cosmetic procedures, how to calculate a solar return, aspect patterns in natal charts, and where astrologers might begin looking when researching AI and emerging technology. In the Ralph Report, Laurie reviews last week’s predictions against actual headlines before looking ahead at the astrology and potential headlines for September 13–21. The episode closes with a deeper discussion of AI, data centers, stressed aquifers, climate concerns, and why local action matters. The message throughout: knowledge by itself isn’t power. Power comes from knowing what you can actually do next. This week, Laurie explores how to move beyond fear, reclaim your agency, and become solution-oriented during times of rapid change. Inspired by the legacy of Gloria Steinem, she examines why imagination is an act of courage, why presence is a form of resistance, and how astrology becomes far more powerful when used as a tool for observation rather than prediction. Laurie also shares a reading of her new essay, "Astrology Deconstructed," answers a listener's question about using astrology for career decisions, reviews recent prediction highlights in The Ralph Report, and closes with guidance for this week's Virgo New Moon.
