Episode 5: Hot Soup in the Middle of Summer

Chris and Sal spend a little extra time setting the scene for you. Join them as they dive deep into some obscurities of the internet!Topics discussed: party in a box, a little haggling, the good bad and ugly of advertisements, the Shrek expanded universe, haircuts, the fedora phase, thumbwars, the history of memes, SOUP Relevant Materials: - Indian in the cupboard | A little boy plays god, what could go wrong?!- Schrodinger’s cat | it’s a thought experiment… so we are both right. - Black Mirror – on Netflix | We barely talked about it, but this is supplemental material FOR LIFE.- Mac Tonight | What every ad should measure their engagement against. - Old Spice Ad | Maybe a bit dated in its language but boy I love that style. - MANSCAPED Ad | The one I was looking for is nowhere on YouTube (maybe they got called for their candidness), but this gives you the idea.- Cellino & Barnes | It’s so catchy!- Optimum Triple Play | I’m sure they don’t use that phone number anymore, maybe it’s up for grabs!- Thumb Wars | This was made back in 1999 so this was hard to find. Watch while it’s still up on Youtube!- Know Your Meme | Mom, I’m getting a PhD in Memeography!- I’m At Soup | This gets a little hostile – so viewer discretion advised maybe?- Strawberry Gazpacho Recipe | Bring this to your next gathering and you’ll impress everyone… but now you’re the soup guy.
