The Nielson Show

Show Notes

Craig Button was the first guest on today's show. He shared his thoughts on the Oilers first two games of the season… It is as bad as it looks or is this just a team that's showing rust. He shared his opinion on that as well as touched on the goaltending the Oilers have gotten over the past two games as well. What's it going to take for McDavid to focus on defence… or will it ever happen? Craig finished his hit with some thoughts on Barkov's injury.

We then gave our Early Bird Bet presented by Play Alberta.

After the break, it was time for The Fan Zone presented by The Northern Gauge. Is the Oilers goaltending as bad as it looks? Dusty seems to think so…

We capped off hour two with some MMMMMM That's Good presented by The Italian Centre Shop. What's good today is Dusty being on the road and still being able to join the show today!

Jamie McLennan kicked off today's guest lineup, jumping straight into a breakdown of last night's thrilling overtime win and what makes this Oilers squad so fun to watch right now. The conversation quickly shifted to the crease, with Noodles evaluating Devon Levi—what sets him apart from previous Edmonton netminders of the McDavid era, and whether it's fair to label him the goalie of the future. The guys also looked down the ice at Minnesota's Jesper Wallstedt, discussing his potential to evolve into one of the league's elite goaltenders. To wrap things up, Noodles previewed tonight's marquee matchup in Ottawa as Brady Tkachuk makes his first emotional return to the nation's capital since being traded.
