On today's Agenda podcast, ACC Head G Lane, Tony Lyall and Matt Heath sit down and rake over the coals of the India T20 loss and how it was masterminded by a 15-year-old (00:00). Next up, 'Matt Heath's F1 Corner' looks at the likelihood of Liam Lawson's replacement taking over his seat (18:00), the lack of surprise around the Super Rugby Team announcements (23:30), and Tony sits down with Black Cap Tim Seifert ahead of the 4th T20 and asks the question, "How do we beat the boy?" On this special episode of The Agenda, Tony Lyall and ACC Head G Lane jump into the beautiful GWM Cannon Hi4-T for a Great Route of the Auckland Marathon! Starting in Devonport, the fellas drive the entire Half and Full Marathon course, the same route thousands will be taking on this Sunday, commenting on the sights along the way and swapping their best and worst stories from marathons past.
On today's Agenda Podcast, Tony Lyall and ACC Head G Lane are reunited after Tony's trip to Sydney, and it seems he's not the only one who has gone to Sydney this weekend (00:00). Next up, the Kiwis wiped the floor with the Cook Islands on Saturday, but will the intercept tries come back to bite them (10:15)? The Black Caps have once again come up short against India, so how will they go in Wellington (13:20), and Canterbury have won the NPC and the mascot race. Still, their superhot stadium is letting the region down (22:00)... Finally it's 'Yours Please' and it turns out Tony has been pronouncing something wrong the whole time (40:40). On this special episode of The Agenda, ACC Head G Lane & Dylan Cleaver are joined by the Great Man himself, Kane Williamson aka Steady The Ship, for a wide-ranging yarn about walking away from international cricket, a timely phone call with Virat Kohli, life after the game, and why the side he’s left behind might be frighteningly good. For a man who spent a career looking utterly unbothered by the fastest bowlers on earth, knowing when to stop was the hard part. Williamson reveals the decision had been circling for “18 months, two years”, from a thought that landed mid-tour in Sri Lanka (“what am I doing here?”) to the moment on the Lord’s balcony when it finally felt right. The day before he announced it, he spoke to Virat Kohli. He calls it “like looking in the mirror.” But this is the ACC, so it doesn’t stay sensible for long: the new golf obsession, the admission that his favourite shadow-batting shot was actually a leave, and a genuinely extensive discussion about cricket boxes, including Mitch Marsh celebrating getting struck flush while wearing Williamson’s Cover protection. And the big one for Black Caps fans... “This is the most talented New Zealand cricket team I’ve ever been a part of.” He explains why it’s now on the next generation to own it, and why the bowling depth should scare people.
