John Gay is the author of The Bedevilments a boy about the clients perspective exploring the sex industry as a client, who is also battling with addiction. The character in the book, Anthony is barely present in his own life. A failed academic career, a soul-crushing call-centre job, an Alcoholics Anonymous group he resents attending: he’s checked out from all of it. He spends the Sydney summer trying to avoid the sun, and lives only for the evenings when he can visit Emma, a sex worker at a local brothel. It’s during these rented hours that Anthony finds brief moments of human connection. He can afford to see Emma maybe once a month, but he can never hold on that long. Then Emma disappears, and there’s nowhere left for Anthony to hide. By turns appalling, funny and tender, The Bedevilments is an eye-opening story about addiction, sex and anonymity.
I get in bed with Lillith Lodge and we talk about EVERYTHING! **Trigger warning** At 21 mins Lillith shares a truamatic client story involving SA. I ask Lillith why she got into adult industry. Lilith shares her story to becoming one of the highest earning Only Fans models in Australia. We talk about social media, what she has used her social media for and which posts perform the best. Lillith shares her wisdom about the industry. We talk about the haters, trauma porn, forehead surgery plus so much more!
What happens when FS workers, a stripper, a pornstar, and a dominatrix are left in a room together? You dismantle the Whorearchy. Many of us in the Industry have heard this term, The Whorearchy. The idea that some of us are better whores than others. Certain aspects of the industry are more accepted than others. So I brought together a stripper, an escort, a pornstar, a dominatrix, and I represented brothel based workers. And we spoke about it all. Do strippers really think they have the moral high ground? Are porn stars at the top because filming is more socially acceptable than in person work? Plus they claim to be making the most amount of money. Or maybe being a Domme is the way to go, and the less client interaction, the better the work. Who is at the bottom of this pyramid and why. This conversation could have gone many ways, but you won't be disappointed.
