Show Notes
In 2021 Alex Regan had lost 30lbs before he turned 30, completed the Couch to 5k, had a hit running podcast, and was living with his fiancée. It's now 2026 and Alex is a single dad of two, nearly 20 stone and coming to terms with the death of his fiancée, and the mother of his children. The show explores widowhood, being a single parent, and trying to find joy after loss. Episode one where we go from here and how we got to this point. It all started 4pm some idle Tuesday.

More from Run Fatdad Run
Cold season is upon us, nurseries are plague pits, and Alex is navigating illness, parenting, and running. And to heap misery on to misery, he's got to drive in to the office.
The kids are back at school, the days are getting shorter, the jobs list is piling up, and Alex is getting angry. Angry at inanimate objects, angry at people, overwhelmed by all the things that would have been shared with his partner, if she were here. Could this be a continuation of the post-run blues? Maybe Alex is pining after the structure of race training. But with being a full-time dad, working full-time, and ferrying the kids to all their clubs means there's little time to go for a run. So how will Alex fit it all in? And how much weight has he gained since completing the half-marathon?
Alex has completed the half marathon, but in the hours afterwards he's left feeling empty and wearisome. On the journey back to Yorkshire he has a stark reminder that his fiancée has died and, in reality, the run hasn't solved anything. Alex has a chronic case of the post-run blues. But on top of that, he is longing for the thing he can't have, his old life with Kelly. As he looks over pictures and videos of a holiday to Portugal five years earlier he's reminded of a Portuguese word. Saudade. It means a nostalgic longing for something, or someone, that may never return.
Alex is taking a week off after the half marathon, so here's a compilation show with all the best adverts from Run Fatdad Run.
It's half marathon week and Alex has trained hard, but getting to the starting line will prove challenging. Will circumstances get the better of him? Or will he complete the half marathon?
