Today's True Weird Stuff - The Hello Girls: The Women Who Helped Win WWI...and Were Forgotten
Before women could vote or officially serve in the Army, 223 American women were sent to the front lines of World War I to run battlefield communications. They worked under bombardment, wore gas masks at their desks, and connected 26 million calls that helped secure Allied victory. They were sworn in as soldiers...and then denied recognition for 60 years. This is the story of the Hello Girls.
