But You Don’t Look Sick: Living with an Invisible Illness or Dynamic Disability

I've Got Guts!

Show Notes

In this episode of I’ve Got Guts, Stef and Lauren dive into a powerful and deeply personal topic: what it’s like to live with an invisible illness or dynamic disability. From conditions that fluctuate day to day to chronic illnesses you can’t always see, they unpack what these terms really mean and how they affect every aspect of life, from relationships and work to self-worth and daily functioning. Stef and Lauren share their own experiences and offer tips for navigating life with these challenges, whether you're the one living it or someone who loves and supports someone who is. This is a must-listen for anyone trying to better understand the often misunderstood reality behind the phrase, “But you don’t look sick.”

Stef and Lauren are back with another I’ve Got Guts! Extra and, for once, Stef’s update is refreshingly uneventful. Since the last check-in, she’s managed to stay out of the hospital…a major win during cancer treatment, even if it doesn’t exactly make for riveting podcast content. Lauren also shares an important update from her family before the girls catch up on some of the lighter things getting them through life lately: what they’re reading, what they’re watching, and what’s worth adding to your own list. It’s a little cancer update, a little real life, and plenty of the usual Stef-and-Lauren banter.
