I had the absolute pleasure of sitting down with AnneMarie Whelan, founder and CEO of RegSol, a compliance consultancy and training firm specializing in financial services regulation. AnneMarie brings a wealth of experience to the table. She spent nine years practicing as a barrister before transitioning into financial services regulation in 2014. Since then, she has developed expertise in areas such as Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Consumer Protection, and Data Protection. AnneMarie regularly presents at industry events and holds key compliance roles, including a Central Bank of Ireland approved PCF-12 Head of Compliance position and serving as a Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO) for a Credit Union on an outsourced basis . In our conversation, we delve into how one's socioeconomic background can influence both career trajectory and confidence. AnneMarie shares candid stories from her time at the Bar and discusses her decision to leave that world behind. We also explore the challenges and triumphs of women in business, among many other topics. I first encountered AnneMarie as a speaker at an event, and I was truly blown away. I thought, "I have to meet this woman." She offers a unique perspective on business that resonates deeply with my own ideals, especially regarding the support and empowerment of women in the workplace. I'm thrilled to share this episode of GET UP 10 with you. 👉 Give it a listen and let me know what you think in the chat – I’d love to hear your thoughts on our conversation. #GetUp10 #WomenInBusiness #SocioeconomicImpact #Confidence #Leadership #AnneMarieWhelan #Podcast #FemaleFounders #CareerJourneys
More from Get Up 10
I am delighted to welcome Kel Galavan, better known as Mrs Smart Money, back to Get Up 10. Kel famously saved €30,000 in just one year, completely changing her relationship with money. Now she’s helping others take control of their finances and make their money work harder for them. We had a brilliant conversation about why so many women are reluctant to invest, where to start, the mistakes people make with money and why it’s never too late to take control of your financial future. We also chatted about Kel’s own business journey, the lessons she’s learned and what’s next for Mrs Smart Money. As always, plenty of honest conversation, practical advice and a few laughs along the way! If you’ve been thinking about getting smarter with your money, this episode is for you.
More Than Resilience In this episode, I sit down with the brilliant Sonya Moran for a very real conversation about life, business, resilience and what it takes to keep getting back up. We talk about the highs, the difficult moments, the lessons learned along the way and the people and experiences that shape us. Sonya’s story is one of strength, determination and perspective — but what I loved most about this conversation was the honesty. Because success is rarely a straight line. Sometimes it’s simply about getting up one more time than you’ve been knocked down. A great conversation with a great woman.
In this episode of Get Up Ten, I sit down with Xia Mulhall to talk about doing business with China. Originally from China and now working with Irish businesses, Xia brings a unique perspective on importing, exporting and navigating the Chinese market. We talk about the opportunities for Irish businesses, the mistakes companies can make, cultural differences you need to understand and what you should know before importing from or exporting to China. Xia shares practical advice from her own experience helping Irish businesses navigate the process — and gives a fascinating insight into how business really works between Ireland and China. If China is a market you’ve ever considered for your business, this episode is well worth a listen.
