The Hillsborough disaster of 1989 remains the worst tragedy in football history. 96 Liverpool fans lost their lives during an FA Cup semi-final match, and the aftermath of the disaster was marred by a cover-up that denied justice to the victims and their families for decades. In this episode, we examine the Hillsborough cover-up and its lasting impact on football British society. We also explore how the Hillsborough disaster exposed deep-seated problems in football culture and the broader establishment, and how the fight for justice dragged on for far too long.
