“Mid life is not a crisis. It is a beautiful awakening’
There is a frustrating lack of information out there to support women through the physical, mental and emotional changes of perimenopause and mid life. While I’m not an expert, I have deep lived experience - from heavy periods, to a myectomy, to a hysterectomy and hormone replacement therapy - and I have a lot of thoughts on the topic.
Today I’ll share what my journey in perimenopause has looked like, and why I believe that perimenopause is not a crisis, but an invitation to beautifully blossom into the second half of your life.
Today on WithIn:
The unexpected path I took to having a myomectomy and then later a hysterectomy
How my emotional landscape changed in the aftermath of my hysterectomy
How I recreated my connection to my womb space
Why I decided to pursue hormone replacement therapy post-hysterectomy despite my OB saying I ‘wasn’t a candidate’
The ‘art’ of finding the right hormone dosage: Hormones 101
How sobriety and lifestyle changes that have helped me through perimenopause
The gifts that perimenopause can bring into your life

I posted a reel last week about how I parent teens as a sober mom, and it led to a lot of important questions popping up in my DMs: Do my kids drink? What are my rules around drinking? Do I talk to my kids about alcohol?
There are so many things in midlife that feel ungrounding. Our bodies are changing in wildly uncomfortable ways. Our children are getting older (and maybe leaving the nest). We’re facing the reality of aging parents. And then there’s something that I hear so many women speak about: a persistent midlife itch that there is something more for us. A next chapter. A new calling. Yet, what exactly that ‘new thing’ is rarely feels clear. So today, we’re going to talk about it:
Jaemi Pierson is one of the most inspiring people I follow on Instagram, so I had to bring her wisdom straight to you on WithIn!
Last week I found myself in my closet, overcome by a heavy bout of The Sunday Scaries - It wasn’t anxiety about the approaching Monday, but anxiety about the entire fall season. After a beautiful summer focused on my family, the realities of the fall felt like too much to face.
