Manu picks the three games he’s watching this German football weekend, in kickoff order.

1. FC Kaiserslautern vs Hertha BSC (2. Bundesliga): Kaiserslautern sit third with 18 points. They play a conservative style under Thorsten Lieberknecht, and promotion is the ambition. Manu looks at the Betzenberg atmosphere, players to watch like Mario Sauer, and a mixed head-to-head against a Hertha side doing well under Stefan Leitl.

Bayern Munich vs Borussia Dortmund (Bundesliga): The two clubs are level on 17 points at the top. Manu has doubts about the “Klassiker” label, but this one might earn it. He covers recent results, injury news on both sides, including Vincent Kompany’s recovery, and Harry Kane’s expected return with a small ceremony planned.

1. FC Saarbrücken vs SV Waldhof Mannheim (3. Liga): A derby between fourth-placed Saarbrücken and Mannheim on 16 points. Manu explains the regional geography, why Mannheim is a hockey town, and what 52 past meetings say about the rivalry.
