We look ahead and thank the French federation for giving main draw wildcards to Monfils and Stan! And then we preview all four of this week's events, ATP Hamburg, ATP Geneva, WTA Strasbourg, and WTA Rabat, while I tell you what I'll be betting on. In the episode I look ahead to the men coming back west, with tournaments in Lyon and Brussels plus another in Almaty, Kazakhstan, while for the women, they stay in Asia with a 500 in Ningbo and a 250 in Osaka. Can Rybakina get back on track, is she healthy? What about Alex Eala? Separately, why has Gael Monfils gone into dark mode and retired himself without a bye or a leave for his legion of French fans? I talk about Aryna Sabalenka, Rafa Jodar (who plays for a podcast winner at 40/1 overnight in the Shanghai final!), along with plenty more! 00:00 intro 02:35 Six Kings canned03:43 Jodar’s behavioral challenges 05:20 Sabalenka woes continue 06:29 Djokovic pulling out all the stops for Turin 09:35 Three legends bow out, but in differing circumstances 15:00 Hat tip to Sonay Kartal 17:42 WTA Ningbo25:17 WTA Osaka 30:13 ATP European Open 35:18 ATP Rhone-Alpes 40:30 ATP Almaty Thank you for listening, I’d be very obliged if you could share with a friend and interact with the pod or any of the content on social media, and as always, give a follow and a good rating if you enjoyed it, cheers.
Zheng Qinwen produced incredible tennis from the quarter finals on to win a huge 1000 in Beijing in her home capital. Make no mistake, this player is a total superstar and her ceiling is HIGH! Are we looking at a future number one? She could leave the singing to Tyson Furey though! I preview WTA Wuhan, and give my bets, plus I tell you why Sascha Zverev is a total a**00:00 intro 02:10 Zheng Qinwen is a superstar 07:24 Six Kings 09:00 Zverev piggery 10:40 Quick look at ATP Shanghai 13:10 WTA Wuhan preview and bets Please rate highly if you like the pod, pls follow and share with any of your tennis loving community! A short podcast episode today where I jump straight into ATP Shanghai and go through the draw and who I fancy. With World Tour Finals qualification high on everyone’s mind, there’ll be no shortage of motivation in Shanghai. I have a feeling Djokovic won’t play; as of now, he is in the draw and of course I could be wrong, but let’s see after the Beijing final, where I really hope he wins in a couple of hours time against Alex de Minaur. Thanks for listening, don’t forget to follow on Apple Podcasts or Spotify, and pls give a 5-star rating if you like the show. Both of those things help me reach more listeners. Much obliged, until next time.
Novak Djokovic has made more history by moving to an insane 32-0 at Beijing by defeating Sascha Zverev in the Chinese capital today. He’s not home yet as Daniil Medvedev lies in wait in the semis but I think Djokovic can beat him and should be favored by the market, which he's currently not. Sinner announced his withdrawal from Shanghai today while Elena Rybakina is out of Wuhan; both withdrawals having large implications on the year end races. 00:00 intro 01:15 Nadal Slam! 03:15 Sinner out of Shanghai04:44 some changes on the WTA 11:40 Ljubicic back on the circuit! 16:01 Asian games; heartbreak for Eala 18:18 Rybakina withdraws from Wuhan 20:03 a look at Tokyo and Beijing so far Please follow if you like the content, send to a friend, leave a good rating, I love all the interactions. Thanks for listening.
Djokovic returns to his best ever tournament, putting a 29-0 perfect record on the line. I think he’s very live to pull out a win and he’s in our list of picks here. Elsewhere, Tokyo, playing a lot faster than Beijing, sees a loaded top half with Alcaraz and Fritz on course for a repeat in the semis of last year’s final. Find out who I think takes advantage in the bottom half. In WTA Beijing, we have a totally stacked field, but even though Rybakina, Gauff, Sabalenka and Swiatek are here, I’m looking past them for my bets and a little further down the field. 00:00 intro 01:50 my unpopular Laver Cup reel 05:19 the grand slam player council 09:26 the Nadal Academy Slam! 11:45 WTA Beijing 100020:56 ATP Beijing 50016:38 ATP Tokyo 500Thanks for listening, I need you to pls follow on Spotify or Apple Podcasts if you’re not already and please give me a good rating if you enjoy the show.
