What happens when a woman decides to back herself—even when the odds are against her? In this special solo episode of Under the Brim, I share the story of Edna Jessop, a remarkable rural Australian woman whose courage, determination and willingness to back herself created a legacy that still deserves to be remembered. It's a story about grit, resilience and refusing to let circumstances decide what is possible. But more than that, it's a story about a quality I believe every woman can cultivate: the courage to trust yourself, take the opportunity and back yourself—even when you don't have all the answers. Edna's story isn't just history. It's a reminder for all of us that sometimes the biggest thing standing between where we are and what might be possible is whether we're willing to believe in ourselves enough to take the next step.

In this episode I’m chatting with Liv Coutts, a floral designer living on her family’s third-generation farm. Liv didn’t grow up in farming life, and when she found herself raising young children in a world where the farm work never really stopped, she experienced just how isolating rural motherhood can be. A former English teacher, Liv has found a new way to express herself through flowers. Growing her own blooms, running workshops and creating incredible floral installations, she uses her work to tell stories, convey messages and create meaningful experiences. This creative path came after a health scare and flowers became a way to heal, reconnect with herself and rediscover a part of her that had been lost along the way. Liv’s story is a beautiful reminder that sometimes the thing that brings us back to ourselves is something we never expected — and that our next chapter can grow from the most difficult seasons of our lives.
Have you ever looked up and wondered where the time has gone, or found yourself busy getting through life without feeling like you’re really living it? In this solo episode, I’m sharing what’s been happening in my own world, why I felt inspired to talk about intentional living, and the shifts we can make to stop running on autopilot and start creating a life that feels more purposeful. Because being busy isn’t necessarily the problem. It’s when we’re so caught up in doing, thinking and responding to everything around us that we lose sight of what matters to us. I’m sharing how we can become more aware of where our attention is going, get clear on what we want instead, recognise what’s getting in our way, and begin practising new ways of thinking and being. You don’t have to overhaul your life, change your schedule or wait for the perfect time to begin. Sometimes, it starts with a little awareness and a decision to do things differently. If you’ve been feeling a little flat, distracted, overwhelmed or like you’re just getting through the days, this episode is your invitation to pause, get intentional and be inspired to make the rest of your year count.
Robyn is an Ayurveda teacher and practitioner, but her story actually began in the classroom. As a Home Economics teacher, she discovered her passion for helping people feel empowered in their own lives — and that passion has continued to shape the work she does today. We talk about the evolution from teacher to wellness business owner, and the identities we carry with us along the way. We talk about Ayurveda and the Doshas, and why Robyn loves the way they can give us permission to understand and embrace who we are, rather than constantly trying to change ourselves. This is a conversation about how the things we’ve experienced, the things we’ve learned, the questions we’ve asked and the transformations we’ve had can become the very reason we feel called to help others. This was such a beautiful conversation about identity, business, health, Ayurveda, evolution and becoming more — and I have a feeling you’ll find a little piece of yourself in it too. I didn’t start yoga because I wanted to become more flexible, find inner peace or learn how to stand on my head. I started because I wanted to fall pregnant. And couldn't. In this solo episode, I’m sharing why I started yoga, why I stayed, and some of the benefits that have kept me coming back again and again. The cliché benefits of yoga might not be the benefits you’re looking for. You might not care about touching your toes or becoming more “zen”. But you might be surprised by what you discover when you give yourself the chance to practise. I know I was. Maybe yoga will change your body. Maybe it will change your mind. Maybe it will change the way you move through your life. You won’t know until you try. Term 4 Yoga starts 5th October @ the Yoga Shed and on Zoom. What happens when you give yourself permission to pursue the thing you really love? In this episode, I’m chatting with Sophie — primary school music teacher, talented musician, incredible artist and proud country girl. Sophie shares what it has looked like to pursue her passion for painting alongside teaching, including taking the very brave step of heading to France to spend three weeks living and painting at a chateau. We talk about backing yourself when you’re creating something that feels deeply personal, the nerves that come when people actually look at your work, and the temptation to compare yourself to other artists on social media. But underneath all of that- Sophie is creating a life that she genuinely loves. It’s a beautiful conversation about comparison, courage, creativity and choosing to build a life that feels like yours.
