Summary
Marketers are increasingly calling out ineffective advertising spending, often referred to as "bull spend," which focuses on metrics that may look impressive but fail to drive actual revenue. This trend is highlighted in discussions among professionals who emphasize the need to shift focus from vanity metrics to tangible results that impact the bottom line. The conversation stresses the importance of utilizing platforms like LinkedIn, which allows for precise targeting and has shown to deliver a high return on ad spend.
Philanthropy and social impact also take center stage, particularly through the efforts of Tony Robbins and Peter Diamandis, who share their commitment to addressing global challenges. Robbins recounts his personal journey of feeding millions and his collaboration with Feeding America, pledging to donate the profits from his upcoming book to feed 50 million people. Diamandis discusses his work with XPRIZE, which incentivizes innovation to solve pressing issues, such as literacy and access to education.
Both Robbins and Diamandis emphasize the significance of mindset in achieving success and overcoming obstacles. They advocate for a shift from viewing challenges as insurmountable to recognizing them as opportunities for growth and innovation. Their insights suggest that personal fulfillment and a sense of mission are crucial for long-term success, urging individuals to align their work with their passions and values.
Show Notes
Joe Polish is the leader of the Genius Network, an organization that brings together powerful entrepreneurs in a think-tank style environment to discuss breakthroughs, collaboration, connection and more. In this episode of the Tony Robbins podcast, Joe Polish sits down with Tony Robbins and Peter Diamandis, founder and chairman of the X Prize Foundation, to discuss the psychology of success.
The challenge in succeeding in business and establishing a successful mindset is finding out what your highest calling in life is. Do you feel like you’re working every day just to chase a paycheck, or do you feel like you’re making progress toward pursuing your passion? If it’s the former, it’s time to switch career paths. What’s the point in working toward someone else’s dream? Find a way to pursue your own.
Does this sound impossible? Oftentimes the things that scare us do sound impossible, but they’re not. Reframe your mindset — what can you achieve and what have you put off achieving because you thought it was impossible? “Impossible is not a fact, it’s an opinion,” says Tony Robbins.
Psychology and business go hand in hand. If you mentally believe you have the skills and resources you need to succeed, you will. Twenty percent of business success is the mechanics of the operation. The other 80%? The psychology, or mindset, you bring to the company.
If you have the right psychology, you can find the resources and develop the skills you need to transform your professional success. The first step in developing a success mindset is tweaking your strategy. Who is someone you admire in your field? Why? What are they doing differently and how can you apply this to your operations? Once you’ve identified the optimal way to act in order to achieve your goals, then you have a strategy in place.
Next, it’s time to change your story. What negative or untrue things have you been telling yourself? Do you believe you’re unskilled or lacking resources? Challenge yourself to examine if this is true or not. When you are able to see the truth and understand that you are capable of whatever you tell yourself, you can change your story. And when you change your story, you change your life.
Lastly, find a way to put yourself in an ideal state. You have good and bad tendencies. But what creates a magnificent life? Learn to balance these qualities, both positive and negative, to achieve your optimal state. Whatever is right for you is the state you should strive for.
If you follow the above steps, and have an immense hunger for reaching your business goals, you’ll find success. For more insight into the conversation shared between Tony Robbins, Joe Polish and Peter Diamandis, listen to the complete podcast.
