We’re heading to Solihull for a special episode of A Gay And A NonGay!
Recorded just days before the first-ever Solihull Pride, Dan sits down with Melanie Palmer — CEO of the Solihull Business Improvement District — to discover how one of the “straightest parts of the UK” ended up launching a Pride celebration that captured the whole town’s imagination.
Mel shares the surprisingly emotional origins of Solihull Pride, how she has been combatting outdated attitudes, and the wider fear and misinformation that still shapes perceptions of queer people.
This episode is a reminder that Pride can take root anywhere, even in the places you least expect.
