William Shatner joins us on The Basement to talk about the masks we wear for the people we love. Then the conversation turns to stranger ground.

In 1967, Shatner crashed his dirt bike into a prospector’s trench in the Mojave Desert, alone and baking in his leathers. Over the ridge stood a figure dressed in silver, and it led him somewhere.

He also opens up about surviving stage 4 melanoma in the same stretch of time his daughter faced her own diagnosis. He shares the phone call he made to his dying sister, and what it taught him about Captain Kirk’s final words.

From Spinoza to the Great Pyramid’s hidden hum, this is a man still asking big questions. What do we see at the very end? Shatner has a theory. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices
