Anthropic's Mythos : Is this the moment AI becomes dangerous?

AI Haven't A Clue

Show Notes

This week, Anthropic unveil a brand new model so powerful it’s being deliberately kept out of public hands over fears it could destabilise cybersecurity, economies… and more. Some are calling it a breakthrough. Others are calling it a warning. We're breaking down the “Mythos” model and why even governments are paying attention, and whether this is genuine risk or just clever PR. And ELSEWHERE, the AI race is heating up! Apple makes a bold move that could redefine how we experience AI, the UK risks falling behind as companies quietly move AI operations abroad, and OpenAI’s expansion hits a very British obstacle… Victorian cobblestones! Plus, we dive into a new study suggesting AI might actually be changing the way we think : reducing memory, critical thinking, and creativity. And in the weirdest corner of the internet: An AI influencer making thousands… and a wearable AI “friend” that listens to your life and talks back. This episode asks a big question: Are we building tools to help us… or something we won’t be able to control? Contact us over at aihaventaclue.com

Should schools ban AI, or is banning it the worst thing they could do? Children are already using ChatGPT, Gemini and AI image generators. But while some schools are blocking the technology, others are teaching pupils how to use it critically, creatively and responsibly. In this episode of AI Haven't a Clue, we speak to Tom Le Tissier, Head of Alleyn's Regent's Park, and Amy Austin, Head of Digital Learning, about the future of AI in education. Tom's school group developed its AIQ curriculum with MIT and other universities, while Amy is bringing AI literacy into the classroom, helping children understand everything from algorithms and misinformation to AI-generated images. We discuss: Why banning AI at school might leave children less prepared for the real world

A handful of billionaires could be deciding the future of AI. But who is funding them, what do they want, and how much power do they really have? We talk constantly about Sam Altman, Elon Musk and the race to build increasingly powerful AI. But behind the CEOs is another group of people with enormous influence: the investors funding the entire revolution. In this special episode of AI Haven't a Clue, George Butler is joined by Jack Benjamin, journalist at The Media Leader, to investigate the money behind AI. We uncover the connections between Peter Thiel, Elon Musk, the PayPal Mafia and some of Silicon Valley's biggest venture capital firms. We explore how the same investors keep appearing across OpenAI, Anthropic and SpaceX, and why their political connections matter. Plus, we look at the reported $30 billion UAE investment talks involving OpenAI, why AI investment is helping prop up the US economy, and what happens when so much power is concentrated in so few hands. If AI is going to change everyone's lives, shouldn't we know who's paying for it? Contact us over at aihaventaclue.com!

Your doctor might only see you when you're already sick. BUT AI could spot the warning signs years earlier.... Dr. Dan Sodickson has spent more than three decades working out how to see inside the human body. A physicist and MD, he has worked at Harvard and NYU, where he served as Vice Chair for Research and Chief of Innovation in Radiology. His big idea? We are using some of our best medical technology too late. MRI is usually used once there's already a reason to suspect something is wrong. But Dan believes AI could change that by making imaging faster, cheaper and more accurate. AI could compare new scans with your previous scans, understand your personal baseline and help doctors distinguish genuine warning signs from harmless changes. And eventually, he thinks scanning could move far beyond the hospital. Imagine a scanner built into your bed. Or your home. Or somewhere you visit every day. Dan calls this future “everywhere scanners”: a connected network of sensors, blood tests, imaging and wearable devices with AI acting as a kind of central brain, constantly looking for changes in your health. AI could destroy humanity, but according to Sam Altman, we just have to roll with it. That's not a line from a sci-fi film. It's a risk being discussed by some of the people actually building the technology. We dive into the biggest AI stories dominating the headlines, including Trump's new AI push, why he's STILL insisting on calling it “super intelligence”, the growing political battle over AI regulation, and why Slovenia is in the money from this AI hype. AI doesn't need your face to identify you anymore. It can recognise your voice. Your fingerprints. And potentially even the way you move. Simon Weckert is a Berlin-based new media artist whose work combines code, circuits and social commentary. He has become known for playful projects that expose the strange ways technology shapes our lives, including his infamous Google Maps experiment and a colourful T-shirt designed to confuse AI surveillance systems. Simon explains how he created the digital camouflage, why AI surveillance worries him, and whether we should have the right to disappear from these systems in the first place. We get into the uncomfortable question of freedom vs safety, whether surveillance technology could reduce human civic engagement, and why being able to opt out of tracking online doesn't necessarily mean you can opt out in the real world. Plus: can AI make better art than humans? If AI can recognise you without your face, is there anywhere left to hide? Contact us at [email protected] COME SEE US LIVE : nowshow.ing/aihac
