Discussing North Alabama’s classic big drop, Desoto Falls, with Kincaid Wurl. Kincaid was born and raised in Rome, Georgia, just over the state line from Little River Canyon. After polishing his skills on the class IV-V sections downstream & with the help of a strong crew of good friends, he started running the West Fork of the Little River’s Desoto Falls and has now done so 10 times. Join me as I pick Kincaid’s brain about his numerous descents of this beast.

More from The Rapid Series
One of Wyoming’s finest and Team Weiner poster child Owen Doyle joins me to chat about he and Galen Volckhausen’s descents of Bavarian Mind Melt, perhaps one of the hugest single rapids to ever be run in a kayak. While many descents of this caliber are highly calculated and planned out down to every minute detail, this one was...not. Listen in to hear about the descent, some shenanigans, a little whitewater philosophy, and much more from O’Doyle himself.
Raised in Chile's capital city, Santiago "Santi" Sandoval realized that Pucon, perhaps Chile's finest outdoor mecca, was the place to be if he wanted to take advantage of the highest concentration of high quality whitewater in his corner of the planet. Tres Saltos, one of the area's cleanest and most highly revered big drops, has become one of his favorite local stouts, and he sits down with me to explain why, discuss the line, and otherwise bestow his knowledge of the rapid and its history upon us.
I think this one speaks for itself. One of the most prolific kayakers of all time lets me pick his brain about about the most famous waterfall in the whitewater universe.
Long Creek Boy turned Columbia Gorge charger Jeremy Nash joins me for a conversation about one of his favorite rapids, Marginal Monster on Overflow Creek. Listen in to hear some Chattooga history, what Marginal has taught Jeremy, how he applies those teachings to other large rapids around the world, and much more.
Looking Glass Falls is one of the Southeast's most infamous drops--dynamic lead-in, funky lip, shallow landing, the works. There have been several infamous descents on this beast from Corran Addison's ultra-low water batman costume lap to broken noses and backs. Of the handful of people who've stepped up to Looking Glass, not only is Nathan Bond the first person to get a repeat descent, but with successful and injury-free lines each time. Join me as Nathan and I discuss his two times running Looking Glass Falls and the circumstances surrounding each descent.
