#244 Dr Ash Hamilton — Why Your Pain Is Trying to Tell You Something and How to Finally Listen

Good Humans with Cooper Chapman

Show Notes

Most people see an osteopath when their back gives out or their neck won't turn. They get treated, they leave, and they come back when it happens again.

Dr Ash Hamilton does things differently.

As an osteopath and mind-body speaker, Ash has built his practice around something most in his field overlook: that the body keeps score, and if you only treat the physical, you are only telling half the story. His patients are often the ones who have been everywhere else first. The ones who have tried everything and are still in pain. The ones who need someone who will actually look at the whole picture.

In this episode, Ash takes us through his journey to finding a genuine love for his craft, why he became just as focused on the mind as the body, and what he has learned from working with people that the system could not figure out. This is a conversation that will change the way you think about pain, healing, and what it actually means to feel well.

In this episode we cover: Ash's journey into osteopathy and how he found his passion for the mind-body connection Why so many people with chronic pain end up at his door after exhausting every other option How the mind and body communicate and why you cannot treat one without the other What chronic pain is really telling us and why it is so often misunderstood The mindset shifts that help his patients finally break through after years of struggle Practical tools for understanding your own body and nervous system better What Ash wishes more people knew about pain, healing, and long-term wellbeing

I loved this one. Alexis has spent over a decade inside marketing, media and PR, so she knows exactly how our attention gets engineered. And she’s honest enough to call herself a tech addict too. Her new book Real: Reconnecting to Yourself in a World of Likes and Lies is three years in the making, and it’s all about how social media messes with who we think we are, and how to take that back. If you’ve ever closed an app feeling worse about yourself, this one’s for you.

This was a fascinating chat. Dr Joy Kong started out as a psychiatrist and addiction doctor before becoming one of the leading voices in stem cell therapy. She’s UCLA-trained, triple board-certified, and the founder of Chara Health in Los Angeles and the American Academy of Integrative Cell Therapy, where she trains doctors around the world. Joy cuts through the hype and tells it straight about what stem cells can and can’t do, and why she thinks we might be the first generation to reverse ageing. If you’re curious about longevity and where medicine is heading, you’ll love this one.

This week I sat down with Chris Mater, and this one is a masterclass in building a career by backing yourself at every turn.
