Show Notes
Five-time Grammy and Emmy nominated comedian, actress, and activist — and one of Vogue's Best Female Comedians of All Time, right alongside Joan Rivers and Gilda Radner — Margaret Cho joins TS Madison in the "Outlaws" studio for an unforgettable episode. She's fresh off being cast in "Percy Jackson" Season 2 alongside Sandra Bernhard and Kristen Schaal, starring in Greg Araki's new film "I Want Your Sex" with Olivia Wilde and Charli XCX, and touring her brand new stand-up show "CHOLIGARCHY" — where she's fighting fascism one joke at a time. Madison opens by honoring Margaret as a personal inspiration — and reveals the two already have history: a moment backstage at GLAAD where Margaret didn't need an introduction because she'd been following Madison for years. This episode gets into everything past, present, and future: Margaret unpacks happened when network executives greenlit a show based on her life and then decided she was too fat to play herself — and how Hollywood's playbook still hasn't changed. Fast forward to today, she talks death threats, Homeland Security, and what it's like to be a loud, queer, Asian American woman with a decades-long target on her back, having built a career on not only making people laugh but also fearlessly speaking truth to power. Also: a state of the union regarding the trans community in America, Dave Chappelle, surviving abuse, comedy as a weapon, the Diddy trial, and Margaret's "wet and woke" vision for the future.
