Show Notes
Kay Grayson was by no means a conventional woman. After leading a wild life living on boats and training attack dogs, she settled in North Carolina where she fell in love with black bears. Kay took her love of bears farther than most, by feeding the bears and allowing them to live in her trailer with her. But when she's found dead one day, authorities are left to wonder if the bears she loved so much caused her demise.

After a year off, Ashley is back! She's joined by her best friend and fellow wildlife biologist Hannah, and they're promoting their new podcast Up All Night: The Parenting Podcast. Today's episode, in honor of their new podcast and mother's day, is all about mother animals attacking humans in defense of their young.
(00:00:00) Ep. 95: Studying Bears After An Attack (feat. Amber Kornak)
In this episode, we're finishing our two-part series covering some stories from the recent wrongful terminations carried out by the U.S. federal government. In this episode, we hear from former US Forest Service ranger Liz Crandall about her life, the work she did, and how her job was stripped from her. We also hear Kathryn Brainerd's story about how the job she was offered simply ceased to exist.
On February 14th, the Trump Administration wrongfully terminated tens of thousands of probationary federal employees. For all of these employees, their termination was blind-siding and life changing. Even though this episode was recorded before some recent changes, there is still so much up in the air. In Part 2 to this episode next week, we'll give updates on Alex and Cheyenne, and get more into what Reduction in Force means.
We've covered bears, cougars, wolves, tigers...but now it's time to cover a species we're all surrounded by: Cows. Did you know in many countries, second only to horses, cows are the animal that kill the most people per year? Tune in to this episode to hear some stories of how cows can turn deadly.
