The Nielson Show

Show Notes

TSN Hockey Insider Darren Dreger kicked off today's guest lineup, jumping straight into a breakdown of Connor McDavid's hot start. Dreger analyzed whether his early-season surge is driven by offseason rest or system adjustments, before debating if a 170-point season is genuinely within reach for #97. Fresh off Edmonton's weekend set against the Utah Mammoth, Darren offered his perspective on Utah's long-term trajectory and evaluated whether there's a realistic path for them to target a elite netminder like Connor Hellebuyck. Finally, Dreger weighed in on the ongoing trade rumors surrounding Dylan Larkin.

We then gave our Early Bird Bet presented by Play Alberta and spun the wheel as we've got a Monday nighter tonight.

After the break, Chris Streveler joined the show to recap all that happened in CFL Week 20.

To wrap up hour two, Mike Tanier gave us a full recap on all the major headlines from NFL Week 6. He also tee'd up tonight's Monday nighter.

The conversation quickly shifted to the crease, with Noodles evaluating Devon Levi—what sets him apart from previous Edmonton netminders of the McDavid era, and whether it's fair to label him the goalie of the future. The guys also looked down the ice at Minnesota's Jesper Wallstedt, discussing his potential to evolve into one of the league's elite goaltenders.
