The People’s Court Murder: Former Fiancé Arrested 15 Years After Woman’s Disappearance On Day Of TV Appearance
True Crime RealityShow Notes
Orlando police have arrested and charged 55-year-old Dale Smith Jr with second degree murder, 15 years after his ex-fiancé Michelle Parker disappeared. Parker was last seen on November 17th, 2011, the very day the couple was featured on ‘The People’s Court,' arguing over a $5,000 engagement ring. Parker dropped off their then three-year-old twins at Smith’s home, and has never been seen again; her body has never been found. While Smith maintains his innocence, police say advances in digital forensics led to additional evidence, paving the way for the arrest they’ve wanted to make for more than a decade. Ohio officials say it took them more than two hours to find the person who called 9-1-1, then hung up, around 4 am on Wednesday morning. Dispatchers called back several times, and finally got a one word response: “help.” But by the time police tracked down the location of the phone, they were too late, discovering the bodies of grandparents 67-year-old Gale Sanders and 51-year-old Melissa Campbell along with their grandson, 22-month-old Kozzar Lotut. They had all been shot dead, and police believe it was at the hands of one of the grandparents. This latest tragedy comes in a year that has seen a dramatic uptick in familicides, and a recent string of headlines involving accused elderly murderers. President Donald Trump has called for a boycott of the WNBA over players skipping the pregame national anthem, and accused LeBron James of disrespecting the country for stretching during the anthem at the Knicks’ game this week. But is there another explanation other than these athletes are “protesting” or “disrespecting” the United States Of America? The answer is a HARD yes. Not only has Trump defended a controversial ad by Ohio gubernatorial candidate Vivek Ramaswamy featuring the estranged mother of Amy Acton, he said Ramaswamy should “look upstairs and say: ‘Thank you, God, very much. I appreciate it.” The ad shows Acton’s birth mother call her own daughter a liar, urging voters not to elect her to office. However, there is no mention of the appalling backstory: Acton’s stepfather, Cledith Arthur, was charged with raping her when she was a child while married to Acton’s mother, who chose to remain with her husband, fleeing the state to avoid charges. Several prominent Republicans have condemned the ad, urging Ramaswamy, who is behind in the polls, to take it down, including the current Republican Governor Mike DeWine. The Duchess of Sussex wasted no time releasing a statement following news that her estranged father, 82-year-old Thomas Markle, Sr. was in possession of hundreds, if not thousands, of photos and videos of young girls being sexually abused. In her statement, Meghan Markle says she was informed by police of “disturbing allegations” against him in 2018 and that explains why she kept her distance from her father as well as her choice to not allow him to have contact with her children. Markle claims she was given assurances that authorities were investigating the allegations. It was Meghan’s half brother, Thomas Markle Jr. who alerted authorities, after he says he found the images while looking for innocent family mementos. With less than two weeks before the midterm elections, a left wing online group has released a 30 minute video that features three men who claim the late Senator Lindsay Graham paid them for sex; one of them says he was just 17 at the time. Graham suddenly passed away over the summer and his sister, Darline, is in a very tight race to retain her brother’s senate seat. Some conservatives have dismissed the video as an “open secret” and an attempt to distract South Carolina voters. One former lawmaker says it highlights something more serious, saying the secrets our leaders keep “comprise them in the most dangerous ways for the security, safety, and prosperity of our nation.” See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
