CETRA, a ransomware group, is behind a cyber attack on Colmobile, Israel's largest vehicle importer. The group employs a double extortion tactic, encrypting data and threatening to publish it unless a ransom is paid. Following the attack, CETRA threatened to release customers' personal information online, although Colmobile has not confirmed whether it paid the ransom.
In New York, the Oneonta City School District has closed for at least two days due to a ransomware attack that disrupted its computer systems. Initially thought to be an internal issue, the incident led to an investigation into potential exposure of student records. The district is collaborating with a third-party cybersecurity firm to assess the damage.
Anne Arundel County, Maryland, also faced a ransomware attack, with hackers accessing county systems and stealing files. The Reseda ransomware gang claimed responsibility, threatening to leak 2.6 terabytes of stolen documents unless a ransom of $2 million is paid. The county, which has over 600,000 residents, is currently investigating the incident.
Additionally, the LockBit Ransomware Group has targeted Queensland-based Pool Group, claiming to have stolen company data. The firm is listed on LockBit's dark web leak site, which includes a countdown threatening to publish the data by October 25th, though no ransom demand has been specified.
