Storme Diaries

Show Notes

Welcome back to Storme Diaries šŸ¤This week I’m joined by my 17th guests, Charley & Danielle — my first ever mum and daughter duo — for a conversation full of honesty, vulnerability, motherhood and some really interesting discussions.Danielle talks about growing up with a dad who was a detective, while Charley opens up about her dad’s struggles with bipolar disorder and mental health, and how her grandparents stepped in and played such an important role in her childhood. After losing her grandad, Charley struggled with health anxiety and shares her experience of cognitive behavioural therapy and counselling.Danielle talks about working in a nursery and her previous experience as a nanny, including the differences between the two. Charley opens up about becoming a young mum, having her children close together and learning that there really is no manual when it comes to motherhood — because every baby is different. We also talk about how midwives and maternity care have changed over the years, seeing spirits, NICU experiences, breastfeeding, children's diets and preservatives and colourings, injections, and the reality of motherhood behind the picture-perfect version we see on social media. And we finish with the very different experiences of being a mum versus becoming a nan. šŸ¤āœØ In this episode:• Growing up with a detective dad• Bipolar disorder & mental health• The importance of grandparents• Grief & losing a grandparent• Health anxiety• CBT & counselling• Working in a nursery & nannying• Becoming a young mum• Having children close together• The reality of motherhood• ā€œThere is no manualā€ā€¢ How midwives have changed• NICU experiences• Breastfeeding• Seeing spirits• Children's diets, preservatives & colourings• Injections & parenting choices• The reality behind motherhood on social media• Being a mum vs being a nan• Mother & daughter relationships• And so much more...A really honest and open conversation covering three generations, motherhood, mental health, grief, parenting and everything in between. šŸ¤If you enjoy the episode, please like, comment, subscribe & share — it genuinely helps Storme Diaries grow and reach more people with real stories and honest conversations.šŸŽ™ļø Watch & listen on YouTube, Spotify & Apple Music via www.stormediaries.com#StormeDiaries #PodcastUK #UKPodcast #Motherhood #MumLife #YoungMum #MumAndDaughter #MotherDaughter #MentalHealthAwareness #BipolarAwareness #HealthAnxiety #Grief #CBT #Counselling #NICU #Breastfeeding #Parenting #RealMotherhood #MotherhoodUnfiltered #HonestMotherhood #UKMums #MumTalk #RealConversations #MentalHealthMatters #YouTubePodcast #SpotifyPodcast

Welcome back to Storme Diaries šŸ¤ This week I’m joined by my 22nd guest, Sophia, for a conversation about childhood, relationships, motherhood, fertility, miscarriage, body positivity, social media and the reality of following society’s expectations. Sophia opens up about her parents separating, breaking her femur on a school skiing trip and meeting her partner as a teenager. We talk about growing up together, clubbing at a young age and how their relationship has evolved as they’ve navigated life, parenthood and everything in between. We discuss how Sophia has followed what society often considers the ā€œrightā€ timeline — from working as an air hostess and travel agent to settling down and starting a family. But life doesn’t always go to plan, and ticking all the boxes doesn’t mean you won’t face unexpected challenges. Sophia shares the realities of having a partner with epilepsy, living with PCOS and navigating motherhood. We talk about her elective C-section, miscarriage and the heartbreaking experience of a baby being attached to her C-section scar. We also have honest conversations about the difficult decisions couples face when discussing whether to have more children, and the strain and pressure that raising a family can put on even the strongest relationships. Alongside the more emotional topics, we talk about body positivity, fashion and showing up authentically online. Sophia shares why she believes you don’t need a niche to create content, why you should be able to express different sides of your personality and the importance of being the same person online as you are in real life. This is a conversation about growing up, love, relationships, fertility, pregnancy loss, motherhood, identity and learning to live life on your own terms. šŸ¤ ✨ In this episode we discuss: • Her parents separating • Breaking her femur on a school skiing trip • Meeting her partner as a teenager • Growing up and evolving together • Clubbing at a young age • Following society’s expected life timeline • Working as an air hostess and travel agent • Navigating life with a partner who has epilepsy • PCOS and fertility • Her elective C-section • Miscarriage and pregnancy loss • The heartbreaking story of a baby attached to her C-section scar • Difficult conversations about having more children • The pressure children can put on a relationship • Protecting your relationship while raising a family • Body positivity and body confidence • Being authentic online and in real life • Why you don’t need a niche • Her love of fashion • Expressing yourself without fitting into a box • And everything in between šŸ¤ Sophia’s story is a reminder that life doesn’t always follow the timeline we’re taught to expect. You can build the life you imagined and still face challenges that change your perspective. Relationships involve difficult conversations, unexpected challenges and decisions that aren’t always easy. And behind what we see online, there is always so much more to someone’s story. You don’t have to fit into a box, follow someone else’s timeline or have everything figured out. You’re allowed to evolve, change direction and be unapologetically yourself. šŸ¤ If you enjoyed this episode, please like, comment, subscribe & share — your support genuinely helps Storme Diaries reach more people who might need to hear these stories. #StormeDiaries #PodcastUK #UKPodcast #RealStories #RealConversations #Motherhood #Relationships #PCOS #Fertility #Miscarriage #PregnancyLoss #CSection #ElectiveCSection #Epilepsy #BodyPositivity #Fashion #SocialMedia #Authenticity #MotherhoodUnfiltered #WomenSupportingWomen #HonestConversations #PodcastReels
