Show Notes
Spurs and Igor Tudor parted ways this weekend, by mutual consent, so Musa and Ryan discuss the position the club now finds itself in. With the threat of relegation now very real for Spurs, while also being set to hire their third manager of the season, they chat about what they do next and whether this is fixable in the short term. There’s also a quick round-up of some weekend results, where Union Berlin secured a place in next season’s Frauen Bundesliga, while Manchester City and Arsenal won their derbies in the WSL, the NWSL attendance record was broken on the first time of asking in Denver and more. There are only a few days left for the initial merch pre-order. So if you wanna get your hands on it quick, you can check it all out here. More from Stadio: A Football Podcast
After a quick shout out of some of the weekend’s results, Musa and Ryan are once again joined by Van Lathan and Jomi Adeniran, from The Ringer’s Midnight Boys, for the second of two special guest episodes! Much like The Avengers, they assemble to put together the Ultimate Superhero XI (17:52), plus a full bench, as well as coaching and executive staff. It’s an epic. If you missed it, this follows on from Thursday’s episode, which you can listen to here. Tickets for our next Southbank Centre show are on sale now, get them here! After shouting out the only place to begin, Musa and Ryan chat about Manchester City’s trip to Anfield (06:56), where they defeated Liverpool, in the first game back since their guilty verdict was announced. The focus isn’t much on the game itself, but more on the reaction at and around the game, the weirdness it uncovered for the Premier League season and what it might mean going forward. In part two, they move onto Freiburg being top of the Bundesliga (34:49), after Bayern and Dortmund both dropped points on the weekend, as well as the amazing job Julian Schuster has done since succeeding the great Christian Streich. There’s also a bit of La Liga chat, most notably the drama in Real Madrid’s 1-0 win over Villarreal, plus lots more. Tickets for our next Southbank Centre show are on sale now, get them here! They chat a bit about the two recent games he played for Australia against Brazil, the move from Hamburg to Osaka and how unique the J.League is. There’s also some stuff on taking a World Cup knockout penalty, some film and music recommends, approaching fatherhood and much, much more! On today’s episode, Musa and Ryan discuss the news that Manchester City were found guilty of all but one of the 115 Premier League charges against them. As we head into the extended men’s international break, many teams will be welcoming it, while some will be wishing there were more club games this week. It’s hard to know which is the case for Atlético and Real Madrid, as Musa and Ryan discuss another home win for Diego Simeone’s side and another impressive Madrid derby (04:45). José Mourinho brought a print out to the press conference and for a second it felt like the first time he was in charge, attempting to distract from a less than stellar performance from his side. They then move onto Serie A, including a brilliant top of the table clash between Roma and Inter (30:38). There’s also Premier League chat, with impressive results and performances from Brighton and Brentford, who inflicted 3-0 defeats on Arsenal and Chelsea respectively. Plus, there’s Ligue 1, Bundesliga and more! Tickets for our next Southbank Centre show are on sale now, get them here!
