On this episode, join hosts Ed, Garrett, Dennis, Karen, & Kate along with returning guest Ryan as we discuss our surprise miniseries, the 1988 Starship Troopers OVA. As we're taking a small break from Rayearth, we're going to cover this 6 episode OVA over the course of the next 3 podcast episodes. Since this was never released in the US, you'll have to search for it on YouTube or similar video platforms to see it. Unlike the late 90s film, these soldiers have power armor to use! But before Johnny Rico can pilot one, he has to finish basic training first. 0:00:00 - Intro & Some Anime News 0:09:55 - The Watchlist 0:31:06 - Our Starship Troopers History & Production Notes 0:52:13 - E1: JOHNNY 1:18:02 - E2: HENDRICK 1:44:15 - Voices, Final Thoughts, & Kanpai Special thanks Ryan for joining us on this episode! On this episode, we got a literal full house on as there were no more microphones to use. Join hosts Dennis, Ed, Kate, Karen, & Caitlin plus returning guests Rishon & Sanjay for the end of part 1 of Magic Knight Rayearth. We get the real form of Inouva, the real reason why Zagato is doing the things he's doing, the real reason why the girls were summoned, and the real villain of part one. For real? But it's not over yet. Though we are taking a break with this series, we will finish up part two in the very near future. But now we can compare it to the upcoming fall 2026 reboot. Hope you enjoyed this miniseries and will join us for part 2 soon! 0:00:00 - Intro & Some Anime News 0:15:01 - The Watchlist 0:47:09 - Karen's Magic Knight Rayearth History 0:51:55 - EP17: The Truth about Inouva, and the Return of Memories 1:10:11 - EP18: The Last Rune-God: Rayearth, the Lord of Fire 1:27:51 - EP19: Showdown! It's part two of our Magic Knight Rayearth marathon, and Dennis, Kate, & Ed are joined by special guests Rishon & Sanjay for more adventures in Cephiro. We get new magic spells, new magic weapons, and even a new villain to face. Other talking points include Hikauru's bad pet name, fighting those you love, 1 pixel spring, poorly executed betrayals, and forgetting about healing magic. 0:00:00 - Intro & Some Anime News 0:12:21 - The Watchlist 0:30:15 - Sanjay & Rishon's Rayearth History 0:33:34 - E5: Escudo, the Legendary Ore 0:50:07 - E6: Lives at Stake - Presea's Weapons 1:10:38 - E7: Ferio in Desperation - A Romance in the Desert 1:30:52 - E8: The Horrible Trap of Summoner Ascot 1:49:45 - Voices, Final Thoughts, & Kanpai Special thanks again for Rishon (@pork-sly) & Sanjay (@sanjay.vas) for joining this episode! On this episode, join club members Dennis, Ed, Kate, & Caitlin for the first of many Magic Knight Rayearth episodes. Remember way back when we covered The Vision of Escaflowne? It's taken this long to go over another isekai series that features mecha. But this one also has magical girls with a twist! Listen in as we discuss our teen heroes travelling through Cephiro, being really mean to a young adult woman, there's no time to explain, is Ferio the Joker, all things as Mokona wills it, and shoulder pads for days. Also, it's great to have Caitlin back for this batch of episodes, as she also brings up some key manga differences. 0:00:00 - Intro & Some Anime News 0:13:41 - The Watchlist 0:48:32 - MKR Production Notes & the Club's History 1:04:40 - E1: The Birth of the Legendary Magic Knights! 1:36:31 - E2: Presea, the Master Smith in the Forest of Silence 1:50:45 - E3: Ferio, the Handsome, Mysterious Swordsman 2:16:14 - E4: Alcyone, the Vengeful Sorceress 2:37:02 - Voices, Final Thoughts, & Kanpai You can support the show by donating to our Ko-Fi through the link below or purchasing Magic Knight Rayearth on Blu-ray through our Amazon affiliate link: https://amzn.to/4wVGUxU Dennis: @ichnob | Ed: @ippennokuinashi | Kate: @taikochan | Caitlin: @kouject Linktr.ee | Ko-Fi | RSS
