Winton isn't just the cheeky little bulldog on Bluey, it's an outback town with a heap of Aussie history on tap and it's also the dinosaur capital of Queensland. Winton is also the birthplace and childhood home of Bluey creator Joe Brumm. Lou jumped onto the first ever Winton Day Trip aboard Alliance Airlines and spoke to everyone behind the scenes of Winton tourism; Winton Mayor Gavin Baskett, David Elliott and Jessie from Australian Age of Dinosaurs as well as Jenny Elliott from the Waltzing Matilda Centre. Winton is an amazing place for a Bluey Day Out, not only can you dig up bones like Bandit, but some of the dinosaurs that are being processed in the Australian Age of Dinosaurs lab are named Bob, Trixie and Mackenzie - do those names sound familiar? Here's all the info on how you can have a Bluey Day Out in Winton, and why it should be a must do in '22. Find out more about Alliance Airlines 2022 Winton Day Trips here. (Confirmed dates for 2022 are April 9, July 9 and August 13 - flights depart from Brisbane). Plan your trip to the Australian Age of Dinosaurs here. More info on the Dig-a-Dino Experience is here. Book your tickets and discover what's on offer at the Waltzing Matilda Centre. Don't forget to check out the Winton Musical Fence. The version of Waltzing Matilda at the end of the podcast is by John Williamson from his 'Mates on the Road' album. If you're a Bluey fan, you know the show is all about creative play. Our guest on this episode is Christopher Mannino who is an author, actor and former theatre teacher. Chris studied mythology, theatre, and literature both in the US and at Oxford. He is a digital nomad currently residing in Malta with his wife and two kids. Christopher's new book is called 'Making It Up: A Revolutionary Way to Bond With Kids Through Play'. The book was inspired by Bluey, when Christopher recognised that much of the Heeler's life was based on improv theatre. We'll give you a sneak peak of the book, and a few tips on how you can play more creatively with your kids. Find out more about Christopher, his new book 'Making It Up', as well his other fiction and non-fiction work at his website - www.christophermannino.com 'Making It Up' is available in paperback and for Kindle on Amazon, and the audio book is available on Audible. Our podcast is celebrating five years since we started talking about Bluey and her home town of Brisbane! To celebrate we headed down to Bluey's World in Hamilton right by the river - because they are also celebrating 300,000 visitors through the doors, an extension through to March 2026, as well as a ton of new games and experiences. We also had a chat about some of the things that are floating around the Bluey universe; why the ABC (the Australian broadcaster of Bluey) pulled the Hammerbarn episode, and the research that shows Bluey is making your kids more resilient. A massive thank you to BBC Studios and Bluey's World for the invitation and allowing us to record a podcast onsite. Get your tickets to Bluey's World here. It's that time of year when the fierce rivalry between Queensland and New South Wales comes to a head with the annual State of Origin rugby league matches. And this year we've got ourselves another decider in the three game series! You'd know Dan Brumm's voice - he plays Uncle Stripe on Bluey, but he's also been the show's sound designer across all three seasons. With the Queensland Maroons taking on the New South Wales Blues tonight in Sydney , Dan sat down for a chat about how the game of rugby league was depicted in Bluey. Dan unpacks some of his sound design, and some of the little things that you might have missed in the layers of sounds that make up 'The Decider'.
