Summary
The World Cup Calling Show features a lively discussion about the upcoming World Cup, focusing on various teams and players. The hosts express skepticism about the excitement surrounding the tournament, with one host, Tobes, feeling fatigued from the recent football season. They engage in a light-hearted "beer battle" segment, comparing Japanese beer Asahi with Dutch beer Heineken while predicting the outcome of a match between Japan and Holland, with Tobes favoring Japan as dark horses in the tournament.
The conversation shifts to Jude Bellingham's place in the England starting lineup, with both hosts debating his performance and potential impact. They question the validity of arguments supporting Bellingham's inclusion based on his club status at Real Madrid, suggesting that past performances should weigh more heavily in selection decisions. The discussion continues with callers sharing their views on England's chances, potential dark horses, and predictions for the tournament's top scorer, with names like Kylian Mbappé and Romelu Lukaku being mentioned.
As the episode wraps up, the hosts reflect on the overall atmosphere of the tournament and the differences between American and UK football cultures, emphasizing the importance of genuine fan engagement over manufactured experiences. They conclude with predictions for the tournament's outcomes, highlighting the competitive nature of the upcoming matches.
