Show Notes
Some sporting champions become immortal. Others win the biggest prize of their lives, produce a moment for the ages, and then somehow slip through the cracks of history.
In this episode, we're celebrating the forgotten heroes, unlikely winners and sporting legends who deserve a little more love.
There's Buster Douglas, the heavyweight underdog who brought Mike Tyson's reign of terror crashing down. Everton's brilliant 1986/87 side, a team that conquered English football but rarely gets the same nostalgic treatment as some of its contemporaries. Pauline Menczer, the surfing world champion whose remarkable journey deserves to be better known. And golfers Ben Curtis and Todd Hamilton, who arrived at major championships with relatively little fanfare and left with the biggest prizes in the game.
Different sports, different eras, different stories — but all with one thing in common: these champions reached the summit, and yet their achievements didn't always get the recognition they deserved.
