The Book of Enoch does not describe a single Heaven. It describes many. In one vision, Enoch is carried to a wall of crystal and a palace of fire, where a throne of crystal burns with streams of flame, guarded by cherubim and seraphim. In another, he journeys to the ends of the earth, witnessing the hidden gates of the sun and the prisons of fallen angels. A later text describes seven heavens, each with its own terrors and wonders. This episode explores what Enoch saw—and why the heavens he described are stranger than anything we imagine.
