To Catch a Neighbor (Season 2, Episode 24)

Hey, Cheesecakes! We're revisiting our favorite episodes, and this is one for the record books. The iconic VILLAIN of the show, Barbara Thorndyke, is here - and then literally, actress Bonnie Bartlett is here for an interview at the end! Listen along! ---- WELCOME TO THE GOLDEN GIRLS DEEP DIVE PODCAST! Starting from the beginning of the show, each week we recap an episode of The Golden Girls. Along the way, we sprinkle in researched deep dives into something from the episode or The Golden Girls universe! In season 3 episode 15, GIRD YOUR LOINS CHEESECAKES, DOROTHY HAS A NEW BEST FRIEND! Please meet Barbara Thorndyke, esteemed local author of the classics So Dark the Waves on Biscayne Bay and, of course, Scarlet Dawn at Boca Raton. Right away, we know two things about her: she's a TERRIBLE person and she LOVES an Old Man and the Seafood Salad (a little of that goes a LONG way!). Anyway, Rose and Blanche go out of their way to like her, but the kindness is not returned, Rose learns what a metaphor is, and Sophia has maybe the cutest date we've seen to date. AND STAY TUNED AT THE END OF THIS EPISODE FOR OUR INTERVIEW WITH BARBARA HERSELF! THE ONE AND ONLY BONNIE BARTLETT!!!! Hey, Cheesecakes! We're back with another of our favorite episodes. This week - one of the slimiest, worst characters: "Jere-maaaaaaaay." We roast him good in this episode - join us for the laughs! ---- WELCOME THE GOLDEN GIRLS DEEP DIVE PODCAST! Along the way, we sprinkle in researched deep dives into something from the episode or The Golden Girls universe! In season 3 episode 14 - WELP, CHEESIES... we're at the Rebecca episode. There's no way around it, this episode is problematic from start to finish, BUT that didn't stop Mother and Papa from finding the humor, THE RAGE AT JEREMY (and Sophia!!), and the love for Dorothy not standing for this s**t. ANYWAY, Blanche's daughter comes for a visit. Shenanigans ensue when... well actually there are shenanigans throughout BUT ALSO 80-YEAR-OLD SOPHIA HAS A JOB AND ORGANIZES A STRIKE AGAINST TERRIBLE WORKING CONDITIONS. There's... a lot to get through. So, here we go! Our episodes are researched by Jess McKillop, Patrick Hinds, and Jennifer Simard. All of our sources can be found on our website.
