Investigating President Trump's Hostile Takeover with Dorian Warren of Community Change
Redacted HistoryShow Notes
For this installment of the Redacted History Podcast, I had an enlightening and vulnerable conversation with Dorian Warren, the Co President of Community Change and Community Change Action. In this episode we discuss what life has been like for Dorian, a Black father living in Washington DC during a second Trump administration and the current military occupation of DC. We discuss how Trump wants to not only takeover DC but move to other progressive cities like Chicago, Dorian's hometown. Finally we talked about what folks who want to take action can plan to do over the next 3.5 years .
Community Change is a nonprofit organization founded in 1968 at the height of the civil rights movement by leaders of the civil rights and anti poverty movements. They fight for economic freedom, a care economy that allows families. Providers, and communities to access care, and an immigrant inclusive multiracial democracy. They believe that unless we can find a path toward an immigrant-inclusive multiracial democracy, the number of Americans excluded from basic social and economic protections will continue to increase, and conflicts over rights and resources will tear us apart.
About Dorian Warren: Dorian Warren is co-President of Community Change and Community Change Action. A progressive scholar, organizer and veteran media personality, Dorian has worked to advance racial, economic and social justice for more than two decades.
Growing up on Chicago’s South Side, Dorian learned firsthand the power of unions to unleash economic opportunities. His great-grandparents were sharecroppers, his grandparents were janitors and his mother was a teacher in Chicago’s public schools for more than 40 years.

You have most likely heard of the genocide in Palestine or the United States current war with Iran. But did you know that one of the driving forces behind both of these things is the Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu? Do you know who he is or where he comes from? Let's talk about it.
On the Fourth of July 2026, 18 year old Nolan Wells disappeared on Horn Island, an island off the coast of Mississippi, without a trace. There were Snapchat messages deleted, his "friends" were acting paranoid, and no one would give any answers. Two autopsies, and yet a grand jury still thinks that he drowned. And I cannot help but think of Emmett Till, another Black teenage killed in Mississippi under nefarious circumstances. What happened to Nolan Wells?
What if I told you that there were people who knew about 9/11 before it happened? There was one guy for sure, and his name was John O'Neil. In the United States we regularly learn about 9/11 and are told to "Never Forget" but we are rarely told about WHY it happened and if it could have been prevented.
Black people are being found hanging from trees in the south....in 2026. And it has led a discussion around lynching, its history, law enforcement distrust, and overall anger from the Black community. Would a Black person hang themselves from a tree? Let's talk bout that and the history of lynching in the United States.
There have been 45 presidents in US history and 40 of them are dead. But how did they die and what did they say before they did?
