How clearly can you see the life you are living? More than just the day in front of you. The whole trajectory of it. The shape of your days. The pace you keep. The direction you are moving in. Most of us rarely pause to see it. We are in the thick of it, moving from one task to the next, so close to the details that the wider view disappears. To see clearly is to take a step back. To understand what is happening to you while it is happening, rather than seeing it in hindsight, or when something forces you to look. To be aware of what is happening while it is occurring, is clarity in motion, and it is rare, because life keeps us moving too fast to see it. So step back for a moment, and look clearly at the life you are living. The pace of it. The fullness of it.The design of it. Look at the way there is always one more thing, and then another, and how the day ends while you have hardly caught your breath. This has become the new normal. A societal expectation to maintain the pace, carry the load, keep on going. It looks like what everybody else does. And the pace of life is only accelerating. In the age of AI the race is on to make life happen faster. AI answers everything, decides everything, fills every gap, and pulls your attention towards it. More content designed to keep you hooked. More information flooding in to overwhelm. More speed that becomes the new normal. And this is only the beginning of AI taking over the human doing. At first it may seem like it is taking the load off in some ways but in others it is feeding the frenzy. We allow it to infiltrate our lives because we see it as helpful, one less thing to think about because we can automate it. But have you considered that it pulls you further away from your own awareness of what is really happening while it is happening? As the world speeds up, taking a pause to come back to yourself becomes the necessity to keep you grounded. AI can answer endless questions, except the one that matters most. What do you need, right now in this moment? Only you can know that, and only you can answer that. The faster the world moves, the more your own inner clarity becomes irreplaceable. Seeing clearly becomes the wake up call you need to answer. Underneath the acceleration, the stress you carry every day is wearing you down, and gradually you have stopped noticing because you have felt it for so long. At that level, something has to give, life gets harshly interrupted. A moment arrives when realisation hits. It becomes undeniable that this way of living has reached its limit. For some it arrives as a diagnosis that stops everything. And such a moment brings a sharp clarity about what really matters, and about what doesn’t. And it poses questions that becomes so pressing. How did I get here? How did I drift so far from myself? This is the truth that moment reveals, and you don’t need a diagnosis to see it. The clarity a diagnosis brings is yours to claim today, while you are well, long before life asks for it the hard way. The truth is that you are creating the life you are living. Within the new normalisation of life comes your agreement to live that way. You are the one saying yes to the overload. You are the one tipping your own balance. You are the one paying the price. Wellbeing is all about being in balance Wellbeing is a holistic state of balance characterized by the harmony of mind, body, and spirit. It transcends mere absence of illness and encompasses a flourishing existence where one feels integrated, purposeful, and connected to all of life. Strip wellbeing back to its core, and you will see balance is the underlying principle. An ability to navigate what life throws at you, stress, uncertainty, and change while maintaining a sense of equilibrium. A body in balance regulates itself, repairs itself, defends itself, and keeps you in a state of well being. A body held out of balance, in stress month after month, tells another story. The immune system dips. The stress hormon

This week’s wellbeing reflection explores the real reason life changes can leave you feeling lost, followed by an embodied guided practice to help you pause, breathe and return to yourself. There comes a moment when the life you know begins to move in a different direction. A relationship ends.A job changes.A crisis strikes. However it comes, change pulls you out of the rhythm you know and into uncharted territory. Unfamiliar. Unsettled. Uncertain. When life changes, the disruption it brings throws you off centre. The plans you made begin to dissolve. The roles you knew begin to shift. The future you pictured slips out of view. It opens a space where you can bring some introspection into view. From this space, you can see the story you have been living, perhaps for the first time. You see how much of your life was built around this story. How much of who you are was woven from it.How tightly you have been holding on. And the questions waiting beneath the change begin to rise. What is ending? What is asking to begin?Who am I, beyond the story? And here, the real reason you feel lost begins to reveal itself. You feel lost because so much of how you knew yourself was held in the life you were living: the people, the places and the roles you loved. When that life changes, your sense of self changes with it. And this change, however unwelcome, carries a hidden message for you. The signal before the change. This change may feel sudden. Yet something shifts within you long before your circumstances do. A restlessness.A dissonance.A sense of discomfort. This change of state is a messenger. Every experience you live changes you. A conversation that opens your eyes.A place that stirs something new in you. A challenge you overcome surprising yourself along the way. Each one leaves its mark, and slowly, the way you see the world begins to shift. What you value changes. What you long for evolves. What you need adapts. You grow curious about new people, new places and new ways of living, and you yearn to discover more of what life can hold. And as you reach towards the new, the familiar begins to feel different. What once felt natural to you begins to feel out of step. Over time, the life you built for an earlier version of you falls out of tune with who you are becoming. This is where the feeling of being lost arises. Part of you has already moved on from the life you know, and the life that fits who you are becoming is still taking shape. You stand in between, with one foot in each, unsure where you belong. The nature of change. Standing in this in-between can feel unsettling. Yet ancient wisdom has always understood it as part of the natural flow of life. Around 500 BC, the Greek philosopher Heraclitus observed that all of life flows like a river. Each time you step in, fresh waters are flowing around you. His wisdom lives on in the words most often attributed to him: “The only constant in life is change.” Heraclitus saw change as the very nature of life itself. Life is always moving. And as it moves, it moves you too. Your outer life is a mirror of your inner world. When you change within, the reflection takes time to catch up. A relationship that felt like home begins to feel distant.Work that once lit you up begins to drain you.A place that held you begins to confine you. Your life is still reflecting who you were, while you are already growing into someone new. This is why you can feel the pull to change even when everything around you stays the same. The shape of your life has yet to catch up with the shape of you. Beneath the discomfort, something deeper is stirring. It is the voice of your soul, the part of you that has always known who you are. It speaks through the restlessness, through the longing, through the sense that there is more. Listen closely, and you will hear its call of expansion. To grow beyond the life you have known. To live more fully as the person you have become. To let go of the story of who you once were. In the mids
Voice & photo by EIRANU: Stillness on Clew Bay, west coast of Ireland This week’s wellbeing reflection explores the stillness of nature, followed by an embodied guided practice to help you pause, breathe and return to yourself. You can picture the moment. You are outside in the natural world and you look up, and something captures your attention. A sky glowing pink and gold at the end of the day.A full moon rising over the rooftops.A lake so smooth it holds the whole sky. For a moment you simply take it in. Nature has stopped you in your tracks, and in that moment it has handed you something precious. It has handed you a pause. Your feet stop.Your breath catches.Your mind falls still. In this moment nature sweeps your attention away from the constant flow of the mind and points it at the wondrous sight on display. Here on Clew Bay on the west coast of Ireland, one of these moments arrived recently, a misty morning sky reflecting in the stillness of the water. The sky and the sea merged as one, and the landscape floated in between, its reflection resting perfectly on the water. Stand in a moment like this, and the whole world seems to pause with you. This is the pause. A moment of suspension, where time itself seems to hold still. Awe has stopped you, and wonder holds you there. The past and the future fall away, and there is only this moment, vast and open. In this suspension, even the sense of yourself falls away. There is only the stillness, and the awareness of it.Pure presence.Pure awareness.Simply being. Your whole attention is gathered here, held by the beauty before you. You are simply held in awareness, and the magnificence does the holding. Absorbed in the beauty outside you, you touch what lies deepest within you, the awareness that has been here all along. A moment like this is a glimpse of your natural state. It is so rare, and yet somehow so familiar. A moment of pure being awakens you to the reality of life. When you can step out of the churn of everyday life into a moment of pure awareness, you can separate yourself from being caught up in the experience into the awareness of the experience itself. You can realise that you are not your thoughts, feelings, experiences and relationships, you are the one who has the front row seat to the movie of your life. Nature shows you how to pause. Stillness in nature is a conscious pause, a field of resonance where everything has come into agreement. The wind has dropped. The water has settled. The whole landscape breathes as one. In stillness the water stops performing. It lets go of its ripples and its waves and simply allows. And because it allows, it reflects. The light, the sky, and the landscape are all held in the surface, clear and true. This is what stops you. Your body recognises it before your mind can name it. Something deep within you remembers this stillness, because it lives in you too. Stillness meets stillness, so the stillness within you arises to be in the stillness of the scene around you. The effect stillness has on you. When your eyes take in a vast, still view, your body responds. Your gaze softens and widens to hold the whole expanse. That wide, soft gaze signals safety to your nervous system, and your body begins to shift out of alert. The heart rate settles. The breath slows and deepens. The body restores its natural rhythm. As the surface tension of the water surrenders to the calm beneath it, the same thing happens in you. Your surface tension lives in the shoulders, the jaw and the breath held high in the chest. Standing before the stillness your body softens. The shoulders drop. The jaw releases. The breath deepens. In this state of surrender there is only stillness. Nature pauses, and in the space between your breaths you find the same stillness. You may become aware of the pause at the end of each exhale. That still point between one breath and the next is your own still water, your own moment where everything settles. The rhythm of your heart
Welcome to this week's episode of The Return to Yourself podcast. I'm your host, Claire. This week's wellbeing reflection is on awareness, the whisper of calm in the noise of everyday life. Awareness is the part of you that notices your thoughts and feelings as they happen. We explore what happens when that awareness gets lost in the busyness of the day and you move through life on autopilot, and how returning to it brings you clarity and ease. Then I will guide you through an embodied practice to pause, breathe and return to yourself. Every day, your attention is pulled in a hundred different directions. The noise of your thoughts, your emotions and your daily responsibilities drown out almost every waking moment. And underneath all of that noise, something in you is whispering. It is soft, steady and patient. It knows what would bring you calm.It knows the way back to yourself. This knowing is awareness. Awareness is always present, and yet it is easy to lose sight of it. The pace of the day and the constant stimuli pull your attention outwards. In a time where distraction is the norm, and stillness is rare, it is easy to move so fast through life that you barely pause to become aware of yourself. From the moment you wake up, life intrudes on your attention. There is something to answer.Something to read.Something you need to do next. Life rewards the quick reply, the constant check in, the next thing to consume. Over time, reacting becomes the habit, and the habit starts to feel like who you are. Moving through life on autopilot has become the daily norm for modern life. When you disconnect from awareness, you disconnect from meaning. Notice the subtle signs of disconnection. Fatigue that rest doesn’t resolve.Joy that feels distant.Time that slips by without memory. Awareness is still there as a whisper barely audible under all the noise. These whispers are gently calling you back to yourself . Reminding you there is another way to live. One where you can step back from the content of your experience. One where you can clearly see beyond your thoughts and feelings. One where you can steer your attention towards what fulfils your life. This is the gift of awareness, and it has the power to transform your experience of life, offering clarity, connection, and a deeper understanding of yourself and the world around you. The one who notices. Pause for a moment, wherever you are as you read or listen to this. There are sounds around you, some near and some further away. There are sensations in your body, the air on your skin, the breath moving in and out. There are thoughts moving through your mind, perhaps a thought about these very words. And there is something in you that registers all of it. That presence is awareness. It sees the thought as it forms, the feeling as it rises, the tension as it gathers in the shoulders. It has been with you in every moment of your life, steady and unchanging, through every season you have lived. Thinking and awareness are two different things. A thought comes and goes. Awareness is the steady presence that sees each thought come, and sees it go. Most of the time the mind takes the lead and the thoughts become the whole of your reality. Awareness offers you another place to stand and see your life clearly. Why awareness slips from view. It becomes easy to be so wrapped up in each experience that stepping back into awareness slips out of sight. Awareness is a gentle awakening. It invites presence. It is a gift to receive rather than a task to complete, and all it asks is your willingness to notice it. Stepping back to pause and notice is a conscious choice to make when everything around you says hurry up. To give yourself permission to step out of the pace of the day and become aware of what is happening to you in this very moment. Awareness asks you to look at your own patterns. The reactions that repeat. The triggers that catch you.The stories you tell yourself about who you are. Looking at them c
Photo & voice by EIRANU In a world overflowing with information, advice, and authority, we listen to those who make their opinions heard. We turn to experts, friends, social media, and cultural norms, often placing their words above our own inner knowing. Yet, deep within each of us lies a voice of truth that has been shaped by our experiences, our bodies, and our unique journeys. This voice knows you intimately. It feels the subtle dissonance when something is off.It recognises the patterns that your mind may overlook. It speaks truths that can be hard to accept. And yet, this is often the voice we silence the quickest. So why is the voice that knows you best so often the last one you listen to? Is it because we doubt our own authority? Is it the allure of certainty that comes from others? Is it easier to trust others than to trust your own inner knowing? The Oracle that lives in you. For thousands of years, pilgrims have travelled to the Oracle. A power they hold in esteem and turn to for answers on their life path. They climbed up to temples and sacred places with their questions, and waited for guidance on what lay hidden from view. When pilgrims embark on their journeys, they go to seek answers, and also to create a space where the busyness of everyday life fades away. In the stillness of sacred places, they find clarity, connection, and often the profound realisation that the true pilgrimage is the journey into the self. The act of pilgrimage awakens the Inner Oracle, the voice of intuition and wisdom that resides in each of us. Your Inner Oracle is the part of you that knows before you have the reasons. It is your intuition, a sense of something being right or wrong. It is wisdom shaped by everything you have lived and value. It is rooted in trust, compassion, and connection to yourself. Taking time off for a pilgrimage is not an option for us all. Instead the realisation that a pilgrimage awakens the Inner Oracle in you can be woven into the fabric of your everyday existence. This can become a practice in your everyday life. To return to yourself. To listen to yourself. To trust yourself. You can transform ordinary moments into rituals of your own. Whether it’s sipping tea in silence, taking a mindful walk, or pausing to breathe deeply, these moments cultivate stillness and presence. In these conditions your Inner Oracle speaks clearly and steadily. Every time you pay attention to your inner knowing, feelings, desires, and insights, you are honouring your Inner Oracle and your wellbeing. How your Inner Oracle speaks. Your Inner Oracle speaks through the body in nudges, in intuitive signals and sensation. Tightening and settling.Unease and ease.Scattered and steady. Your nervous system reads every situation you step into, every conversation, every face, every tone of voice, and it responds before a single thought has formed. The language of your Inner Oracle is expressed through the body guiding you towards or away from certain choices When something is off, the body tenses. The chest tightens. The belly knots. The breath shortens. There is a pull, an unease, a sense that something needs a closer look. When we ignore these signals, dissonance arises. The body, unable to articulate its truth, speaks through discomfort. This constant effort to mask your true self drains your vitality, leaving you feeling depleted and uninspired. This cry for alignment to what feels true for you, reminds you that authenticity is essential for your wellbeing. When something feels right, the body expands. The breath deepens. The shoulders drop. The throat loosens. A steady warmth settles in the centre of you, and you feel clear. When you align with your inner guidance, you experience a resurgence of energy and a sense of purpose. Your Inner Oracle is your early warning system. The body’s way of reminding you to listen, to trust, and to return to your inner alignment. The mind catches up later and looks for the reasons, while the body already knows what
Photo, voice and sounds by EIRANU Twice a year something extraordinary happens across the whole of the Earth at the same time and we are in the midst of it now. As the sun crosses the celestial equator, a remarkable phenomenon occurs when day and night are equal across the entire Earth. Here, the northern hemisphere receives the Autumn Equinox, while the Southern Hemisphere receives the Vernal Spring Equinox. The sun rises and sets in perfect symmetry, casting equal light and shadow on every corner of the globe. This is more than an astronomical event; it is a cosmic symphony playing in unison, a rare moment when the entire world experiences balance at the same time. The Equinox as a Cosmic Breath. The Equinox is like the Earth taking a deep breath and holding it, a moment of stillness in the cosmic dance. It is the universe pausing to reflect, to realign, to remember the harmony that underlies all life. The Equinox invites us to reflect on the light and shadow we carry, to honour both the joy and the sorrow, the strength and the vulnerability. This is a call to presence, an opportunity to reconnect with the inner essence of who we truly are. The Equinox reminds us of our shared existence. Imagine billions of people, spread across continents and cultures, all experiencing the same moment of equilibrium. Wherever you are in the world, you experience the same celestial event. This is a powerful reminder of our interconnectedness. A sacred pause in the dance of time.A stillness while the cosmic scales are balanced.A breath of unity that transcends our differences. In a world often divided by borders, beliefs, and identities, the Equinox is a unifying force. It collapses distance and separation, inviting us to remember that we are part of a larger whole. That we are threads woven into the fabric of the universe, each contributing to the tapestry of existence. The Equinox has long been revered. The ancients understood the significance of the Equinox. They revered it by building sacred stone alignments that wake only at the daylight of equinox. They designed chambers where the rising sun reaches in along a passage to illuminate the stone inside that for the rest of the year remains in darkness. And they let the moment align them before they walked into the rest of the year. They went to that much effort for one reason. They knew this balance meant something. They knew it was rare. They knew it asked to be honoured. They knew its significance. Much of that knowing has slipped away, the old markers, the thresholds, the turning points of the year. This is what the Equinox calls us to remember. The Equinox is a cosmic threshold to cross. As the day and night find equilibrium, so too does our internal rhythm. The body, ever attuned to the cycles of nature, responds instinctively. As an embodied experience, the Equinox may be felt as a subtle shift, a slight recalibration of energy. It marks a threshold to realign with the harmony of the earth. It invites us to step into the stillness of our own being. It reminds us that balance is something we return to. Being in balance means we are held in a state of coherence, where all parts are in resonance with each other. The heart beats in rhythms of contraction and release. The breath flows in cycles of inhalation and exhalation. The body adapts in response to the cycles of nature. Earth tilts, the seasons change, and life adapts in response. At this shared moment of the Equinox, we too are called to seek balance within ourselves. When we return to balance, we align ourselves with the natural order, and in doing so, we contribute to the balance of the world. The Equinox is a return to balance. In the wondrous dance of the cosmos, balance is the pulse that sustains life. It is the foundational law upon which existence rests. The Equinox, with its perfect symmetry of light and dark, serves as a global reminder to return to balance, both within and without. It is finding an equilibrium betw
