The Tape at the Cedar Post: Voices, Radio and the Missing Walk
Cold nights below 25°F turned a farmhouse wall into a low, interrupted sound that an elementary school teacher recorded for six weeks - then one of her tapes turned up sealed in a ziplock bag against a cedar fence post 22 feet from her back door. Why did Denise Williams have no memory of writing the label or walking to that post, and what do the recordings actually contain?
In this episode, we follow the sequence of events from the first strange sounds in November 2006 through Denise Williams’s methodical recordings and the discovery of a labeled cassette on a farm corridor in January 2009. What does the tape at the cedar post mean for Denise’s notebook of dates, temperatures and quality ratings?
