The Story of Ethiopian Jews Israel Rarely Tells

Israel promises to be a home for every Jew. But for Ethiopian Jews, arriving often meant having their identity questioned and their history erased. Sociologist Dr. Efrat Yerday joins Yirmiyahu Danzig to challenge the familiar Operation Moses rescue story, reveal the activism that came before it, and confront racism, belonging, and Zionism in Israel. Can a country face its failures and still become the home it promised to be?

Yirmiyahu Danzig (@that_semite) is known for confronting the conversations most people avoid, bringing strong convictions but also a rare willingness to engage people who see the world differently. Caribbean, Ashkenazi, and Palestinian-Jewish by descent, he has built an online following of millions by refusing the usual scripts and narratives, crossing traditionally hard-set ideological borders by speaking to everyone in the language of genuine, openhearted curiosity.

Borderlines with That Semite is sponsored by the Marcus Foundation. This podcast was brought to you by Unpacked, an OpenDor Media brand. Follow @unpackedmedia on Instagram and check out Unpacked on youtube.
