Summary
Daly Cherry-Evans reflects on his recent transition from the Manly Sea Eagles to the Sydney Roosters, discussing the challenges and successes he experienced over the past year. He emphasizes that the decision to join the Roosters was driven by a belief in the team's potential for success, which was ultimately realized with the club winning both the NRL and NRLW premierships. Cherry-Evans highlights the importance of building relationships within the team and the supportive environment fostered by the coaching staff, particularly Trent Robinson, who he credits with improving his defensive skills and providing valuable life lessons.
As he prepares for a new chapter in his career with a move to the Super League in England, Cherry-Evans expresses excitement about the challenges ahead for both himself and his family. He acknowledges the competitive nature that drives him to continue playing, despite the physical demands of the sport. Additionally, he shares insights into the camaraderie within the locker room regarding contract negotiations, noting that while players respect each other's business, they also maintain a lighthearted approach to the discussions.
Cherry-Evans also touches on the legacy he hopes to leave for his children, contemplating the idea of writing a book about his experiences, though he remains hesitant about sharing personal stories from his career. He concludes by expressing confidence in the Roosters' future, highlighting the depth of talent within the team and the potential for emerging players to make their mark in the coming seasons.
