What If Life Is Actually The Hunger Games? Ep 213

The Kirk Cameron Show

Show Notes

I just had my 56th birthday, and this morning I was reading my Bible when a thought hit me: what if life is actually The Hunger Games?

If God never wrote a book, we’ve all been dropped into an arena where the strong survive and you either hide or fight. But if He did, everything flips. The meek inherit the earth, the last come first, and the cross, which looked like Satan’s big win, was really his defeat. Welcome to the Humble Games.

My challenge to you: open the book, start with Matthew 5 through 7, and ask yourself which game you’re playing.

Can you manifest the life you want just by believing hard enough? James and I dig into the viral manifestation trend, why so much of it has crept into the church, and why I’m grateful God doesn’t always give me what I want. Let Him write your story. He knows the best ones.

This Monday, let’s talk about the fear of making the wrong decision. The wrong job, the wrong move, the wrong relationship. I wrestled with that worry for decades until I discovered something that gave me real peace: God reroutes.

Christa Pike tortured and murdered a 19-year-old girl in 1995. Last month, Tennessee tried to execute her, and she survived. Now the question is whether they get to try again. I want to go beyond the headlines and ask what God actually says about capital punishment, because forgiveness and justice aren’t enemies. Where do you stand? Tell me in the comments, and bring your Bible.

Why is Gen Z more politically extreme than ever? Is it what they believe, or what they’ve inherited?

We’ve never been more connected, and we’ve never felt more alone. Why? I think C.S. Lewis put his finger on it decades ago: we want love without the risk. In this episode, I unpack what Lewis wrote in The Four Loves about the heart that’s locked away to keep it safe, and why the very thing we do to protect ourselves is making us lonelier. Jesus didn’t love from a safe distance. He moved toward us, all the way to the cross. And I’ll give you one simple action step to start pushing back against our black pill culture today.
